Netflix released its latest reality dating show Love Never Lies: South Africa on November 28, 2024, and follows six South African couples as their relationships are put to the test. The couples live in two separate villas as they work to rebuild their relationships and compete for a monetary reward as they are tempted by the introduction of various singles.
In episode 3 of Love Never Lies: South Africa, Minnie updated the contestants on their partners' activities in the other villa. The couples were separated and unable to see each other, which only added to the tension and suspense.
Pretty, one of the contestants was confident that her partner, Siya, would not engage in intimate behavior with other women. However, her confidence was shaken when she was shown footage of Siya being introduced to Mallay.
Pretty found Siya's reaction to Mallay's touch to be disturbing since her partner claimed that it felt different from Pretty's touch. Initially, Pretty seemed unfazed, remarking that Mallay was not in Siya's league. However, upon returning to the villa, her demeanor changed, and she expressed remorse and disgust towards Siya.
The contestant claimed that she could no longer trust Siya and felt betrayed by his actions. Pretty's emotions were still raw when Nikiwe inquired about her ability to trust Siya again. She admitted that regaining the trust would be challenging, adding that she felt deceived by her partner's behavior.
Pretty also noted that she found it ironic that Siya presented himself as a well-behaved partner when they were together but his actions changed when she was absent. She also said that she felt "betrayed by him."
"It's going to be hard, I don't wanna lie. But I feel betrayed by him. I don't trust him anymore. It's so funny to me when we're together you're this well-behaved guy, but the moment I leave your side," stated Pretty.
Love Never Lies: South Africa star Pretty believes Siya has self-esteem issues
In Episode 3 of Love Never Lies: South Africa, Pretty turned to cast member Nikiwe for comfort when she was upset after seeing footage of her partner getting close to another single. Nikiwe asked about Siya's self-esteem, and Pretty acknowledged that he did struggle with self-esteem issues.
Pretty explained that Siya's insecurities were evident in the way he carried himself in social situations and in his speech patterns as well. She sensed that her partner felt inferior to her, particularly in terms of education and intelligence. Pretty shared her observation that Siya felt intimidated by her past relationships, specifically mentioning an ex-partner who was physically attractive and confident.
"You can tell by the way he stands in a group full of people. You know, even in the way he speaks, he feels like I'm not educated enough, smart enough. He feels small," Pretty said.
Pretty expressed her frustration, wondering why Siya couldn't resist temptation when she had done so in the past. She felt that if she could reject advances from an attractive ex-partner, Siya should be able to do the same with other women. Pretty's emotions were raw as she processed Siya's actions and their implications for their relationship.
As the Love Never Lies: South Africa episode progressed, the host, Minnie revealed that contestants could regain lost money by opening up in front of everyone. Nancy earned 10,000 Rand for her team by sharing her truth.
Pretty was then invited to join Minnie, who acknowledged that Pretty had been deeply hurt by Siya's actions. Pretty explained that she felt betrayed because they had made promises to each other to remain faithful and loyal.
Minnie showed Pretty a clip of Siya flirting with a new single, Mallay, who was introduced to him on Love Never Lies: South Africa. Pretty was shaken, stating that she had never seen Siya behave in such a way before.
The truth detector revealed that Siya's answer to preferring Mallay over Pretty was a lie. Pretty attributed Siya's actions to his deep-seated insecurities, feeling that his behavior was a reflection of his own fears and doubts.
