The third season of Young, Famous & African, streaming on Netflix offers an inside look at the glamorous lives of African elites, including Khanyi Mbau, Diamond Platnumz, Zari the Boss Lady, and Naked DJ (aka Quinton Masina). Episode 8, titled Breakups and Makeups, aired on January 17, 2025, and highlighted the relationship struggles between Kayleigh Schwark and Naked DJ.
The episode's drama took place during Swanky Jerry's lavish party, where Naked learned from his friends that Kayleigh was planning to move out of their shared home, a decision she hadn’t communicated to him. Feeling blindsided and "disrespected," Naked later shared the issue in a confessional.
"I feel disrespected by Kayleigh. Why would you make a big decision of moving out of the house and not even informing me but the whole world knows about it?" he said.
Kayleigh, meanwhile, expressed frustration over Naked's unwillingness to take their relationship to the next level, stating her exhaustion from repeatedly voicing her desire to get married and start a family in Young, Famous & African.
Kayleigh reflects on her relationship and future plans in Young, Famous & African
Kayleigh revealed her growing discontent with the state of her relationship during episode 8 of Young, Famous & African. She explained that she had been vocal about wanting to move forward, discussing marriage and children. But she felt her concerns were repeatedly dismissed. During a confessional, she explained:
"At this point, I'm tired of constantly saying the same thing and getting the same answer which is no answer. It just drains my energy and I don't know where to from here."
According to Kayleigh, her decision to move out stemmed from her belief that Naked was not taking her seriously. In an attempt to match his detached behavior, she chose to remain "nonchalant" about the matter.
Naked addresses the communication gap in their relationship
In episode 8 of Young, Famous & African, Naked admitted feeling hurt by Kayleigh’s decision to inform everyone except him about her plans. Furthermore, he took issue with Kayleigh discussing their relationship problems within their friend group instead of addressing them directly with him. He explained:
"Every time I sit with someone, it's, 'Kayleigh's unhappy.' When you're with me everything is okay; when you're with other people, our relationship is not okay."
Later in the episode, Naked addressed the concerns that had been building in their relationship. He acknowledged Kayleigh's feelings and reflected on how his actions may have made her doubt their future together. Naked admitted:
"I know I've made you feel like, maybe there's no future. But you've always loved me, you've always made me feel special."
He recognized her continued support and expressed regret for not making her feel valued, apologizing for his behavior. As the conversation progressed, Naked expressed his desire for her to stay.
"I don't want you to move out," Naked then took out a ring from his bag pocket and asked, "Will you marry me?"
Kayleigh, moved by the gesture, agreed to the proposal, and said, "Of course babe," indicating a shared willingness to work on their relationship.
In a confessional, Kayleigh shared her feelings of disbelief and joy, expressing how good she felt about the moment. She revealed that she kept asking him, "Is this real? Am I really your fiancée?" as she processed the unexpected proposal and was surprised by his gesture.
Despite their challenges, Naked expressed his commitment to their future together, reassuring Kayleigh during their conversation that he envisioned spending his life with her.
