Fernando and Karen discuss about Irais in Love is Blind: Mexico
In episode 4 of Love is Blind: Mexico, titled, 'It's Not All Roses,' viewers can see Fernando's conversation with Karen about Irais, after their first night together. Karen was aware that Irais was Fernando's second choice in the show. She expressed that it would be awkward if Irais was present at the retreat. Fernando says:
"You see the gift she gave me? Even with the wall there, I could feel her sadness. Because when she declared her love and was like, "Do you think that.."?"
Karen quickly interrupted and asked him, did she actually declared her love, and he said yes. She said in a confessional:
"She just told me she wanted to be friends with him, but that wasn't the case. So I'm a bit upset with Irais, but I trust that Fernando is not going to hurt me."
Fernando's honesty shows as he considers his choices and their effects on others. Karen listens to him with patience, offering support, and expresses her trust towards him in the confessional.

"My beloved Karen, we've gone through quite an extraordinary experience, so we could get to know each other. I remember the first day I heard your voice. Words can't simply explain the inner peace that you made me feel."
Along with this letter, he had kept two sweaters for her which he hoped they would be wearing for Christmas. But along with them, there will be one more sweater, which will be for Emi, Karen's daughter. This makes Karen emotional in the confessional that he included her daughter in the proposal.
Soon after reading the letter, he kneels down and proposes to Karen, thereby popping the question. He says:
