RuPaul's Drag Race season 17 episode 3, titled Monopulence!, premiered on January 17, 2025, on MTV. In the episode, the contestants had to take fashion inspiration from the board game Monopoly and create an outfit from scratch.
One of the queens, Lucky Starzzz, made a conventional gown and painted a more traditional mug. This decision didn't work in her favor and she became the first contestant to be eliminated from the season.
"What got me was I changed myself. But I hope that no matter how long I lasted, the world got to see my heart, got to understand my craft, and got to see that I am uniquely me," she reacted after her elimination.
After her elimination, in an interview with Parade, published on January 18, Lucky Starzzz expressed that she was hoping to last a bit longer acknowledging that it didn't work in her favor.
"I was hoping to last longer... Unfortunately that's just the way it worked," she said.
RuPaul's Drag Race star Lucky Starzzz shares her outfit designing process for week 3
RuPaul's Drag Race's Lucky Starzzz became the newest Porkchop of the franchise with her early elimination. In the Parade interview, the queen reflected on her performance in her final episode.
The interviewer first asked her to explain her thought process around designing her outfit in the design challenge during week 3, given the fact that she took a more conventional route.
Lucky Starzzz shared that she just worked around the prompt and the materials she had. She explained that the prompt was to design something "opulence" which captured the look of "a beautiful rich woman". However, the RuPaul's Drag Race star noted that she was inexperienced in that department.
"I don't sew. I've always been a very crafty person. I have my own medium of drag. I just don't use those materials. I've never done that aesthetic. I've done a traditional mug here and there, but that's not what I serve," she explained."
After learning that Lucky Starzzz doesn't sew her outfits the interview asked how she puts together her outfits and what materials she uses to build her costumes.
The RuPaul's Drag Race star shared that she uses a lot of crafting and expanding foam to sculpt a lot of her drag. She added that she also uses a lot of hot glue on fabric which later dries up to give out a "very gooey" look.
"I use a lot of unconventional stuff. I buy fabrics to craft with, but I don't sew them. I will grab a basic bodysuit and spray paint it, polka dot it, highlight it, add depth at shadow. I would craft around it. I don't really sew," she continued.
Lucky Starzzz then shared how she packed her outfits for the trip to Los Angeles, describing it as a puzzle—carefully arranging everything to bring to the show. She admitted that it was the "most unrealistic way of packing" and that it was almost "impossible to pack that much and make it big".
Later in the interview, the RuPaul's Drag Race star reflected on her performance during the first week and shared that she should have been at the top
"I do think so. I don't know if it should have been me and Susie [Toot] or me and Jewels, but I feel like I deserved a spot up there somehow," she said.
In the end, Lucky Starzzz expressed that she would love to be called back for the All-Stars season. She shared that she loved the filming for her season and if she returned to the franchise, she noted that she would be more unhinged, crazy, and colorful than ever.
RuPaul's Drag Race season 17 episodes premiere every Friday on MTV.
