The much awaited The Bachelorette season 21 finally premiered on Monday, July 8. The introductory episode saw Jenn Tran, the brand new bachelorette, meet the 25 suitors vying for her heart.
The episode also came with a twist, which didn't fail to surprise the cast and the viewers. The premiere episode revealed that Jenn and the 25 suitors were asked to get prepared for a surprise trip to Melbourne, Australia.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, published on July 8, Jenn Tran opened up about how she felt when she found out they were going on a trip, so early on in the season. She said
"I was so excited and usually you don’t travel 'til a couple of weeks into the season, so I was just so struck with surprise".
What did Jenn Tran have to say about the Australia twist on the premiere of The Bachelorette season 21?
It was Jenn Tran herself, who announced the surprise twist to the 25 bachelors on Monday night's episode, which shocked them because travels on The Bachelorette usually come later in the season.
In the Entertainment Weekly interview, the 26-year-old also revealed that she had Australia on her travel bucket list for a long time, so getting to go there immediately was even more exciting for her.
She then, she gave insights into other travels that she and the men will be doing this season. She said:
"I think the dates that we had this season and the places that we traveled to really spoke to where we were. They weren't just dates that you could do anywhere".
Like the last season of The Bachelor, this season of The Bachelorette will also have an immersive experience when it comes to going places. The viewers will again get to vicariously travel through the cast and live the experience. This was made apparent by what Jenn said in her interview. She said:
"They were really dates that allowed us to get to know the country that we were in and the culture that we were exploring".
The trailer of the season is a testament to her statement too. It sees her skydiving, horseriding through deep forests, drifting cars, having dates at scenic locations, boat riding, and doing The Bachelor's special helicopter date.
Talking about all such adventurous instances from the trailer, Jenn said,
"I was definitely pushed outside my comfort zone a lot throughout the season, including with the skydiving. It's something that I've wanted to do, but wasn't sure I could do".
She added that she always thought someone would have to push her or sedate her for her to go on such a venture, but when she was finally able to do it, she was happy to know that she got the courage to jump and that it was a "really good moment".
Talking about how she went through the whole exhilarating experience on The Bachelorette season 21 and kept her worries at bay, Jenn said that she took it "one day at a time".
She said she did the best she could and that she remained herself all the time. She also said that she was a sport by rising to the occasion and braving through it.
New episodes of The Bachelorette season 21 will be released every Monday, on ABC, at 8 pm ET.
