Love Island USA season 6 finale on Sunday, July 21, showed several couples with a promising future. Out of all the couples, only four pairs overcame the obstacles, won the viewers' hearts, and secured their places in the finale.
In the finale, Leah Kateb reflected on her relationship with her partner, Miguel Harichi. During her speech, she thanked him for standing by her side. She commended him for supporting her and accepting her, saying:
"I like how you just get me. I like how we can communicate without words. I like that even in our bad situations we were still good."
Every couple had their own experience on the show, and each of their journeys had ups and downs. The bittersweet nature of the relationships made their time inside the Love Island USA villa worthwhile.
Leah and Miguel's relationship was not one without issues. However, they worked through the hardships and let their feelings for each other overpower the bitter misunderstandings.
Leah and Miguel's speeches reflect on their time on Love Island USA season 6
In the finale, all four couples, JaNa and Kenny, Leah and Miguel, Serena and Kordell, and Kendall and Nicole went on their last dates of the show. The episode also featured each couple making a 'Declaration of Love,' where they read speeches they wrote for their partners.
The speeches revealed how each islander felt about their Love Island USA journey. They also utilized the moment to thank each other for making their time inside the villa special. When it was Leah and Miguel's turn to make their speeches, Nicole said:
"Oh, I can't wait for this."
Miguel started by complimenting Leah's resilience in tackling the challenges she faced on the show. He praised her for presenting her true self and never hesitating to speak up.
"Leah, I know for you, this journey has been one no amount of research could have prepared you for. You faced trials and emotional rollercoasters, mirrors that left you hurt and angered," said Miguel.
Leah was initially paired with Love Island USA co-star Rob. When 'bombshell' Andrea Carmona entered the villa, she immediately expressed an interest in Rob. Rob reciprocated her advances, eventually breaking up with Leah and pairing up with Andrea.
When Andrea was evicted from the villa, Rob and some other islanders accused Leah of manipulating the votes. Although she maintained her innocence, her Love Island USA ex-partner refused to reason with her. She often found herself caught in arguments regarding the same incident.
Despite the allegations, Miguel supported Leah and accepted her.
"I know that to you, there are sides that perhaps you are even ashamed of. But to me, there's a blinding light that far outshines all of those shortcomings," said Miguel.
He expressed his gratitude to Leah for letting him see her true self. He added that no amount of words could describe how "great of a person" she was. Leah was pleasantly surprised by Miguel's kind words.
She started her speech with a joke and said:
"If you would have told me that I was going to end up here with the guy who came in and made out with every single one of my friends, I would believe you. You know I like him a little toxic. Just kidding."
She thanked him for being her "best friend" and "putting up" with her. After several failed connections on Love Island USA, she admitted that her connection with Miguel made her the happiest.
"Thank you for coming in here and making this feel like the experience I was meant to have," said Leah.
Miguel was impressed when Leah ended her speech by saying:
"I guess I just like us."
Later in the episode, host Ariana Madix arrived and declared Serena and Kordell the winners of the show. Leah and Miguel came second, while JaNa and Kenny came third.
