Tia Mowry came forward to clarify her recent comment wherein the actress implied that she wished she were close to her sister Tamera Mowry. This remark was made in context to Tia's divorce from Cory Hardrict, as seen in the trailer of her docuseries, Tia Mowry: My Next Act.
In an interview with US Weekly dated September 24, 2024, the actress said that she was referring to the physical distance between the two siblings. Clarifying the same, Tia stated:
“I love my sister very much. She loves me very much. We have a closeness and a beautiful connection. But that’s what that was all about. It’s just how life unfolds, and it happens with many families.”

Rumors of Tia and Tamera not being close anymore surfaced after the trailer of the former's docuseries was released on September 22, 2024. Tia said in the trailer was:
"Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce. It's times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her, but that's just not where we are right now."
The trailer also featured Tia Mowry saying that she came into the world with a twin and went into a 22-year relationship after that. So, she has never been alone in her life, stating its been "quite a journey".

For the unversed, Tia and her twin Tamera Mowry gained popularity from the ABC sitcom Sister Sister, which ran from 1994 to 1999 spanning six seasons. In her latest US Weekly interview, Tia Mowry was asked how she and her sibling felt about the rumors that arose from her statement. Terming it as "not surprising", Tia stated:
“When you’ve been in this industry for over 30 years, things are always taken out of context and it is what it is. The only thing that I can do is control my behaviors and be the best person that I could possibly be, and that’s what both of us are. We are incredible, inspiring examples, and we have been that all our lives. So, why change that now?”
Tia shed more light on her statement from the docuseries trailer. She stated that as everyone grows up they eventually start their own families and their children need them. She said that her remark was all about how siblings take on new roles and responsibilities within their lives and that it was all she was insinuating.
The actress talked about needing close ones near during times of turmoil and stated:
“In these transitions in life, sometimes you just want a hug and you just want someone to be as accessible as they used to be, and that is not the case. It’s called life.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Tia Mowry discussed the next chapter in life after her divorce from Cory Hardict, with whom she shares a son and daughter. Saying there's "beauty in solitude" and change, the actress mentioned that it is important to understand one's traumas and triggers.
Tia added that she keeps asking herself, "What role have I played in my pain and suffering?” She said that realizing the significance of her role is at the forefront of her healing journey.
