He explained that the structure of the experiment made him question if he was actually falling in love. Sam said that his connection with Nicole in the pods was very strong but in the real world, something wasn't right. Referring to the reveal as "awkward," Sam said:
"So at that point in time, I couldn't stand there and say I'm absolutely in love with this person. I don't think there's anything wrong with that."
Later in the episode, he also apologized to Nicole for implying she was trying to sleep with him. Sam shared he didn't expect his and Benaiah's conversation to get heated so quickly and admitted that it was wrong of him to make those statements. Nicole also shared that she was hurt by the lie Sam told. The Love is Blind contestant continued:
"Unfortunately the conversation did get a little bit heated. After watching it back I wish none of that ever took place."
