Selling Sunset, a popular Netflix series, follows the lives of real estate agents at the Oppenheim Group as they navigate high-stakes deals and personal drama in Los Angeles. Recently, Amanda Lynn, a new addition to the cast in Selling Sunset season 8, has been scrutinized for past tweets and controversial statements made over a decade ago.

In an exclusive interview with UsWeekly on September 11, Amanda Lynn addressed the backlash surrounding her resurfaced tweets. She asserted that she is not racist and acknowledged that her past actions do not reflect her current views.

“I’m definitely not racist by any means...I’m not racist. So it’s a hurtful thing, but I’m dealing with it the best way that I can.”, she stated.

Lynn expressed regret over her offensive tweets, which included the N-word, and emphasized that she has worked hard to understand the impact of her words and to grow from her past mistakes.

The controversy surrounding Selling Sunset's Amanda Lynn

Amanda Lynn’s tweets, dating back 12 years, have recently resurfaced, leading to accusations of racism. Chelsea Lazkani, a fellow cast member, has criticized Netflix for including Amanda on the show and labeled her as “racist” online.

Lynn, however, has responded by taking full responsibility for her past actions and clarifying that the tweets were a product of ignorance rather than her current beliefs. Amanda stated,

“I regret any engagement with harmful language over a decade ago, and it doesn’t reflect who I am today,”

She further elaborated that she originally did not write the offensive content but responded to it, which she now views as a mistake.

“I’m definitely not racist by any means. The tweets are not the best look, and it’s unfortunate. It’s from 12 years ago, even though the time in my heart really makes no difference, because it’s wrong regardless.”

The impact of the controversy on Selling Sunset

The resurfacing of Amanda Lynn's tweets has also affected her role on Selling Sunset. Lazkani has indicated that she would not return to the show if Lynn remains involved. Despite this, Lynn has noted that she does not currently have any plans to join the Oppenheim Group as a real estate agent and is focused on her current career. She remarked,

“I’ve never spoken with them about joining. So who knows what will happen. I’m just really focused on my career,”

Lynn added that her current focus remains on her professional life and that she has no intention of causing further drama on the show.

Reflections on the situation

Lynn has expressed that she wishes the situation involving Chelsea Lazkani and the cheating claims had been handled differently. During an interview, Lynn sympathized with Lazkani, who had been cheated on. However, she expressed regret regarding the way the information was delivered and the resulting controversy.

“The thing that hurts me is that she thinks that I went there with intent to ruin her or her life. And that’s not true at all,”

Lynn emphasized that her intention was never to harm anyone and that she only shared information with someone she trusted. She also mentioned that the information about the cheating claims was presented on the show due to the natural progression of filming and the producers’ decisions.

Moving forward

As Amanda Lynn continues to address the fallout from the past tweets and her role on Selling Sunset, she remains hopeful that viewers will understand her perspective. She has stated that she is committed to personal growth and distancing herself from past mistakes. Amanda concluded,

“I never intended to tear down someone’s family. Truthfully, I’m plenty interesting enough without having to bash someone’s marriage to be on TV,”

Selling Sunset is currently streaming on Netflix, where viewers can follow the cast members' ongoing drama and personal stories.
