Amanda’s journey to relocation
Amanda Halterman has had a pretty tumultuous personal life that has shaped her decision to move. She was married to Jason Halterman for 20 years before they divorced in 2020. After the divorce, Amanda focused on her goals, which included exploring new relationships. She briefly dated someone online.
The relationship suddenly ended when the man "ghosted" her. In 2025, she revealed a relationship with Leonard Moore through Instagram under the handle @mello777365; he was one of her significant others whom she had been seeing for several months.
As Amanda stated, her move to Florida partly resulted from growing up in a relationship with Leonard.
"I’ve been seeing someone named RJ for several months now, and he lives in Florida. I definitely feel like RJ is the one, but long distance is not working. In order for us to continue our relationship and see where it’ll go, we have to be together," she said.
However, Amanda also underscored that her relocation is not solely based on her romantic connection. She explained that the decision is also driven by a desire for peace away from her family's ongoing drama. As she expressed,
"With all the sh*t that’s happening, all the drama with the family, it’s time for me to go because my family is f**king draining, and I’m just to a point in my life where I need peace."
Family’s reaction to the move
The news of Amanda’s relocation was met with mixed emotions during the family dinner in the December episode. When Amanda announced she was leaving her brother Chris was shocked, stating,
"Where the heck are you going? I don't like it at all."
In contrast, her sister Amy seemed worried about the potential consequences of Amanda's decision, reflecting that the move could lead to further distance in their already strained relationships. Amy later expressed her concern in a confessional, saying,
"I made this dinner to bring the family together, but Amanda moving is going to be a big loss in our lives. I’m just worried it’s going to tear us apart for good."
During her family’s reactions to Amanda's announcement about moving to Florida, Tammy shared her thoughts in a confessional. While the rest of the family seemed upset by Amanda’s decision, Tammy had a different perspective on the situation, saying,
"So Amanda announces that she's moving to Florida and everybody else is upset and I'm like bye b*tch unless I have to deal with."
Amanda reassured her siblings that life would go on, telling Amy,
"Amy, dry your eyes. Life happens. It’s going to be all right."
Despite her reassurance, Amy responded by walking out of the room, underscoring the emotional weight of the situation.
