Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 aired episode 14 on Bravo this week on Monday, September 2, 2024. During the segment, the cast welcomed aboard a new member, Carrie O'Neill. While things ran smoothly for the interior crew, the exterior crew members were at odds.

Gael felt her lead deckhand, Joe, was intentionally trying to micro-manage her and was "passive aggressive" towards her. During a conversation between the deckhands, the two spoke about their upcoming tasks. Gael told Joe that Iain, the bosun told her to get back into the polo uniform.

She reminded Joe that he had offered to "go back into the water" and he told her even though he had already changed, he would do it. He referred to her as a "princess." Gael walked away and chimed in on the situation while in a confessional.

"At this point, my blood is boiling. I'm no princess, honey. I don't see Joe doing this to anyone else, and he hasn't done it to me previously," she said.

She added that she believed his behavior was directly related to how close she and Nathan had grown. She said the closer they got, the "b*tchier" Joe was towards her.

What happened between Joe and Gael in Below Deck Mediterranean season 9?

In Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 episode 14, titled, New Kid On The Block, Gael felt that Joe had been "passive aggressive" towards her on numerous occasions. Before the new group of guests arrived, the group was cleaning the exterior of the boat and as Gael cleaned the windows, Joe observed the process closely.

As she cleaned, Joe told the Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 deckhand she had "missed a little bit" and started wiping the window himself. He further commented on the wiper she used and said he hated the "long" ones.

A flashback from the previous charter played, during which Joe commented on the way Gael cleaned. Showing her a technique, he asked if she didn't like cleaning in "one single motion."

"I feel like Joe is being passive aggressive to me. I don't know if he's trying to prove himself as a lead deckhand but I really don't think this is the way to do it," Gael told the cameras.

Gael added that she knew what she was doing and called his behavior "nitpicky micro-management." She wondered what his "game was." Later in the episode, the deck crew had to free the jetskies. She was already at work when Joe approached the Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 cast member.

Joe told her he wanted to put the blue carabineer on the jetski and she asked him what else he thought she was doing. He said he didn't know what she was doing but wanted to loop her in about the plan. In a confessional, Joe shared his thoughts on the situation with Gael.

"With Gael, anything that I say, unfortunately, is like an attack. I'm the lead deckhand. I'm only trying to help you out or give a suggestion. But she doesn't have respect for me," Joe said.

He added that he was "quite confused" by Gael's behavior.

In a short preview shared at the end of the clip, more drama between the cast members was teased. Ellie and Carrie struggled to work together as the latter felt the second stew wanted to do everything herself.

While it is uncertain who Ellie referred to, she told another cast member that "he" was embarrassing her. In the following clip, she told Joe to "f*ck off" while Carrie took a shot and said that she liked to "let loose."

Meanwhile, Gael also had a hard time and confided in Aesha Scott. As she cried, she told the chief stew that she wouldn't "expect anything from anyone" while the camera panned to Nathan. Aesha asked the female cast member if she felt the way she felt because she cared about "him."
