Daymond John, a Shark Tank investor, shared a cautionary tale on Instagram about the importance of treating others with respect, particularly those in the service industry. Drawing from his own experiences working in restaurants, John expressed shock and disgust at the way some people mistreat the waitstaff.
He recounted instances where customers' rude behavior could provoke waiters to allegedly mishandle or contaminate their food. John emphasized that waitstaff are often young adults who may already be dissatisfied with their jobs, and rude customers can push them over the edge. John also warned about the risks of sending food back, as it can provide an opportunity for the servers to reportedly "mishandle" the food.
"I came up in my earlier life working in restaurants, and I'm still shocked, even till today when I go out with people and they're nasty to the waiter, I actually just leave, or I tell them I'm not gonna sit over here," revealed Daymond.
Instead, he advised customers to ask for containers to package their leftovers themselves. John's post served as a reminder to treat others with respect and kindness, regardless of their profession. The Shark Tank investor alleged that people who frequently visit the same restaurant may be recognized by staff and are more prone to being handed mishandled food.
Shark Tank's Daymond John shares a heartfelt message about valuing fathers
Shark Tank investor Daymond John reflected on the importance of valuing fathers during the holiday season in another Instagram post. He noted that many successful male CEOs he works with often struggle with feelings of inadequacy and lack of appreciation from their children despite making sacrifices to provide for and protect their families.
John shared his personal experience of becoming a father 30 years ago and vowing to be the best dad possible. He wanted to give his daughters the things he missed out on due to not having a father figure in his own life. However, John acknowledged that he made mistakes along the way and continues to learn and grow as a parent.
"The reality is that fathers are human too. We are still growing and trying to figure out life just like everyone else until the day we die. I often tell dads that I felt the same for a small window of time when my kids needed to figure out life for themselves," captioned the Shark Tank investor.
John emphasized that fathers are human beings who face challenges and uncertainties, just like everyone else. He encouraged dads to persevere, even when their children seem distant or unappreciative, as they eventually return to their fathers.
As the holiday season was in full swing, the Shark Tank investor took a moment to remind people to show love and appreciation to their fathers if they are fortunate enough to still have them in their lives. He noted that fathers may not always express their emotions openly, but they will deeply appreciate the recognition and affection.
Daymond John thanked his mentor Charles Fisher during the holidays
Daymond John also expressed his gratitude to his mentor, Charles Fisher, in a holiday post. He claimed that Fisher had a profound impact on John's life, particularly when he collaborated with LL Cool J to create a groundbreaking advertising campaign for FUBU and Gap. John acknowledged Fisher's tireless efforts to inspire future generations over the past three decades.
As Christmas Eve arrived, the Shark Tank investor wanted to recognize Fisher and all the dedicated educators and mentors who selflessly give their time and expertise to educate and care for children throughout the year.
"I just want to make sure I acknowledge him and all the educators and mentors that wake up everyday of the year to give the gift of education, knowledge and care to our children," shared Daymond.
John also extended his appreciation to his team at The Shark Group, the FUBU Foundation, and others who helped make a positive impact on children's lives. He reflected on a recent event where they distributed knowledge, toys, and joy to numerous children. John wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
