"I didn't mean to hurt you" — Too Hot to Handle star Flavia talks to Joao about Jalen

Too Hot to Handle season 6 concluded on Friday, August 2, 2024. The series served as the ultimate test for couples as they tried to navigate their relationships without succumbing to superficial temptations. While some cast members formed and sustained meaningful connections, others failed to do the same.

Joao and Flavia's relationship suffered after Too Hot to Handle newcomer Jalen started pursuing Flavia in episode 8. What made matters worse was that Flavia responded to Jalen's flirtatious advances. Seeing Joao upset with her demeanor, she apologized to him, hoping it would not affect their relationship.

"I'm deeply, deeply sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you," said Flavia.

The Too Hot to Handle cast member admitted her attention steered after Jalen expressed an interest in her but she ultimately decided not to pursue him. She wanted to rekindle her connection with Joao. However, Joao felt unsure if he wanted to continue the relationship. After much contemplation, he broke up with Flavia in the following episode.

Flavia says Jalen was the "new shiny toy" in the Too Hot to Handle retreat

Jalen started his Too Hot to Handle journey by taking Bri on a date. He tried to consolidate their connection by kissing her, but Bri refused because she did not want to jeopardize her relationship with Demari. After returning to the retreat in episode 8, he found himself becoming attracted to Flavia.

Jalen pursued Flavia, despite knowing that she was paired up with Joao. He confessed that he was unafraid of stepping on others' toes to get what he wanted. Once he saw Flavia's attention fluctuating, he knew he could convince her to sever ties with Joao. He appeased her by calling her his "number one."

While speaking to the cameras, Flavia admitted that Jalen was the type of person she would usually go for. She preferred men with a "bad side," and the Too Hot to Handle newcomer promised to have just that. Their private conversations and exchanged glances bothered Joao.

During a self-reflective workshop in episode 8, Flavia realized she often rejected men who genuinely cared for her because of her "self-sabotaging" tendencies. She steered away from commitment because it felt "too good to be true." While speaking with Joao, the Too Hot to Handle star said:

"I feel like the workshop made me realize that I can't run away from my demons and my fears anymore, and inside this retreat, I feel like my fear is you. And I'm starting to like you and that's why I'm self-sabotaging. That's the thing I do," explained Flavia.

Flavia continued to explain her standpoint, hoping Joao understood her. When Joao asked if she liked him, she said that although she would typically date "the baddies" like Jalen, she did not fancy him.

"It doesn't mean that I like him. He was just like the new shiny toy in the retreat, you know? Getting to know him is the perfect opportunity for me to, like, f**k things up with you, and that's a thing I have to work on. But he doesn't mean anything to me," said Flavia.

Flavia apologized to Joao and pleaded with him to give her another chance. She felt relieved, thinking he would understand her. However, while speaking to the cameras, Joao confessed he could not simply overlook the situation since he had "a lot of pride" and had been hurt in the past.

"When you show me that it's that easy for you to look the other way, what is it going to be if we end up carrying this out further?" said Joao.

Although Flavia tried to correct her mistake, she realized it was too late. The Too Hot to Handle couple eventually broke up due to Jalen's interference.
