The Golden Bachelorette is about to conclude, with its finale part 2 just around the corner. The finale's second part, titled After the Final Rose, will be released exclusively on ABC on November 13, 2024. Viewers are excited to find out who Joan will choose as her partner and get engaged to.

In an exclusive interview with Parade Magazine on November 5, 2024, Joan shared that she thought long-distance "could be positive and really fun." As fans already know The Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner chose Theresa Nist and the two got married. However, the couple parted ways after allegedly not being able to decide which place to live in.

For Joan, long distance is not an issue as she shared she understood that people close to retirement already have an established life. The Golden Bachelorette star mentioned she "would never leave" her children, grandchildren, mother, and mother-in-law, she continued:

"I have children and grandchildren and a mother [Mary, 92] and mother-in-law who rely on me, and I would never leave them and I kind of feel like a [man] should be the same way. I’m hoping that he would have ties to his community and his family and his friends that he wouldn’t want to leave."

The Golden Bachelorette star Joan Vassos shares her thoughts on a possible long-distance relationship

The Golden Bachelorette cast member Joan Vassos stated that she was willing to make it work with her partner if they were in a long-distance relationship. Joan mentioned that she was not ready to leave her already-established life in Maryland. Vassos said:

"I obviously have my life in Maryland and I’m not leaving it."

She further elaborated that it was "easier" for people close to their retirement age to make long-distance work. Joan gave an example stating that with "time and resources" it becomes easy to meet your partner often. She said that flying to each other's hometown wouldn't be an issue but rather "fun." Joan continued:

"You can fly to wherever they are. And it can even kind of be on the fun side. If I had something really fun happening in Rockville [Maryland], where I live, come and spend a couple weeks with me. And if you have something great going on where you are, then I’ll come to you.”

While talking about retirement, Joan shared that she was not ready for that yet. The Golden Bachelorette cast member explained she is still a private school administrator and was planning on returning to her current job after the "show publicity." However, Joan is excited to be on Dancing with the Stars and on Aladdin in Broadway, she explained:

“I still feel like I’m really entrenched in this. I need to have a maybe month or two away from [the show publicity]. I got to be in Aladdin [on Broadway], go to Dancing with the Stars, stuff I’ve been dying to do. I’m still having a lot of fun with it, so I’m not going to make a [retirement] decision yet."
