"I wasn't quite ready"— Love is Blind UK contestant Sam shares his journey

Love is Blind UK season 1 consisted of multiple love triangles, heartbreaks, and participants finding a compatible love match. One of the cast members, Sam a 31-year-old product design manager from London found a strong connection with Nicole.

The two got engaged despite being entangled in a love triangle that included another participant Benaiah. However, things didn't go as planned and the engaged couple broke up parting ways, and Nicole reconnected with Benaiah.

In an August 26, 2024 interview with Tudum by Netflix, looking back at the experience, and watching the show a year later, Sam realized he wasn't ready for marriage. Sam disclosed details of his past relationships, overall thought process, and why he signed up for the social experiment. The Love is Blind UK contestant revealed:

"When the show approached me, I was like, ‘Well, have I got anything to lose? It's not working in the real world, so why not do an amazing experiment and give it a go?’ But looking back, maybe I wasn't quite ready at the time."

Love is Blind UK contestant Sam tells his side of the story on the situation with Nicole

The Love is Blind UK cast member shared that his past relationships didn't go in the direction he was expecting. Eight months before the Netflix production reached out to him, Sam was heartbroken and was willing to move on from his breakup. At that time, he wanted to take "a leap of faith" in search of love similar to what his parents had. For Sam, having a life partner was one of the "missing segments" that he wanted to fill. He mentioned:

"I don’t think I was in the right position to do the experiment... Eight months after the relationship give or take, the show opportunity came up. Maybe it was just a bit too soon. But you're never ready for anything in life, so sometimes you have to take a leap of faith, right?"

Talking about his insecurities, Sam shared he was comfortable being vulnerable and openly stating how he was feeling on the show. Getting to know Nicole in the pods felt "amazing" but in real life, the Love is Blind UK star felt that the "magic" had disappeared. Sam still proposed that the purpose of the experiment was to reach the wedding altar for a final decision. However, both Sam and Nicole soon realized they lacked compatibility and chemistry. He explained the situation as:

"But I was willing to propose and go this journey just to see because [the experiment] is supposed to go all the way from the pods to the yes or no at the altar. Maybe I wasn't quite ready at that point, but we still had the rest of the journey to go on together to see."

Reflecting on his journey on the show, Sam revealed the Netflix show helped him learn more about himself and his relationships. It transformed him into a stronger person and made him realize that "first glance" attraction isn't necessarily important for pursuing a romantic connection with someone. At the reunion episode as well, Sam expressed his gratitude for this opportunity.
