"I was really shocked"- Love Is Blind star Taylor opens up about Garrett's willingness to move to San Diego

Netflix's Love Is Blind season 7, which premiered on October 2, 2024. Two new episodes of the show (10 &11) were released on October 16, 2024, which followed three couples who are still in line to walk to the altar and find out if love is indeed blind.

The three couples are Taylor & Garrett, Ashley & Tyler, and Marissa & Ramses. Taylor introduced herself as a 29-year-old clean energy consultant in Washington DC. She found love with Garrett, a quantum physicist, during her time in the pods.

The two instantly connected when they met in Love Is Blind season 7 with Garrett even agreeing to move to San Diego on the account of making the relationship work in the long-term. Taylor grew up in San Diego and her parents also currently reside there.

In an October 16 interview with Glamour, she discussed that she always planned to move to her childhood city after getting married as she did not have much luck in dating during her five-year stay in DC. She expressed her surprise at Garrett agreeing to move with her to a new city but realized that the move would be to his benefit as well.

"I was really shocked that they would be willing to do something like that. At the time, I was like, Oh, duh, it’s San Diego. That sounds great. You like fishing. There’s fishing there," stated Taylor.

Monica and Stephen broke up because of Garrett's muffin text on Love Is Blind

Monica and Stephen were one of the other couples who stayed together after the honeymoon phase. But they broke up when Monica found texts of "sex*ual nature" on Stephen's phone as the latter talked to someone from his past. Taylor and Garrett were shown consoling Monica when she confronted Stephen on camera.

Taylor mentioned in the same interview that Garrett texted Stephen that night with the intention of dropping off some homemade muffins. This prompted Monica to check Stephen's phone, which had the alleged texts, and that was the reason the couple was seen with Monica and Stephen during the confrontation. Taylor quipped that she refers to the incident as "muffin-gate".

Taylor further talked about her match with Garrett in terms of "level-headedness". She reflected that both try to be logical in every scenario, and this helped them throughout the journey to understand each other.

The subtle signs, such as the tattoo of the Heisenberg principle, made it easier for Garrett and Taylor to choose each other in Love Is Blind season 7. Garrett has the Heisenberg uncertainty principle tattoo, while Taylor has a hydrogen tattoo. This made Taylor wonder if the universe was trying to point them toward each other.

However, not everything was smooth sailing for the couple. In the pods of Love Is Blind, Garrett criticized Taylor for being guarded as she did not answer a lot of questions the former had asked her. Believing it to be a growing moment in her life, she realized that she was being calculative and guarded due to the cameras being present.

"This experience taught me that I can be thoughtful and still think about the words that I have to say, but find ways that I can ask my partner to make them more comfortable and open up more."

She concluded by saying:

"The word calculated wasn’t the best word choice by Garrett, but I understood what he was saying. I think we addressed it pretty well."
