Love Island is one of the most sought-after dating shows for reality TV fans, and its Australian version (Love Island Australia) premiered with season 6 on October 28, 2024, on 9Now. The show features a group of contestants, known as Islanders, who live together in a villa situated in Mallorca in hopes of finding love.
The winning couple could win a life partner and $50,000. To succeed in the competition, the Islanders must be coupled with another competitor, as singles cannot win. Islanders can also be eliminated via public vote or by deciding among themselves who to vote off the island.
On day 3 of the competition, Kane Godlevsky became the first person to be eliminated from the show as he failed to pair with anyone. The 23-year-old carpenter was initially paired up with Xanthe. Amid numerous changes in pairings, Zane captured Xanthe's attention and started to bond.
The next morning, girls were instructed to either stay with their current partner or choose someone new. Xanthe picked Zane, which resulted in Kane becoming single and being eliminated. While leaving, he was asked if he regretted not strategizing more, a notion he rejected with a resounding "no."
"I don't have regrets. I think I did everything I could, all the people I wanted to talk to that I felt I had a connection with I talked to them," said Kane.
Taylor's move started the domino effect of breakups on Love Island Australia
Kane and Xanthe's breakup was one of many that took place during the former's elimination night in Love Island Australia. Taylor made the first move when he chose Eilisha, who was with Dylan. The latter initially thought this would result in his elimination, but the host, Sophie Monk, declared he would get an extra opportunity to save himself.
There were four ladies left in the villa, but they were all committed to someone else. Dylan either had to change the minds of one of the four ladies or face elimination. With few hours to spare until the elimination zone, Dylan pursued Mimi, who reciprocated his advances.
Mimi's current partner, Zane, also noticed the shift in the former's thought process and looked for alternate options. During the elimination night, when the ladies were asked to disclose their final choices, Hannah stuck with Niko as they continued growing their strong bond.
Mimi decided to twist and chose to go with Dylan, leaving Zane single. Xanthe also twisted and paired up with Zane, leaving Kane alone. Em further decided Kane's fate on Love Island Australia when she chose to stick with Indigo.
Kane has no hard feelings for Xanthe after Love Island Australia exit
While Kane was the one who got eliminated, he declared that he had no hard feelings towards anyone in Love Island Australia. Xanthe fought back her tears and explained to Kane that choosing Zane over him wasn't an easy decision for her, a decision Kane understood.
"Honestly Xanthe, don't stress about it you had to make a decision it's fine," said Kane.
This led to Xanthe and Zane’s connection growing as they embraced and kissed each other. Meanwhile, Taylor had a one-on-one conversation with Em, where he disclosed that he finds her “as cool as f*ck” and has the desire to know her better. As mentioned earlier, Taylor paired up with Eilisha recently, but his move could mean the pairing won't last long.
