Jarrett "JT" Thomas shocked fans as he announcing his departure from Southern Charm through an Instagram post on November 8. Despite filming for the ongoing season 10, JT revealed he would no longer participate in the reality show.
In his statement, JT expressed a mix of sadness and relief, hinting that his time on the Bravo series had taken a toll on him. He disclosed that he had informed Bravo of his decision to skip the remaining green room interviews and withdraw from the show entirely.
"It comes with a heavy heart to share that I have resigned from Southern Charm. Yesterday I informed Bravo that I will not be participating in the 2-3 remaining green room interviews remaining before szn airs 12/5 (I've done about ~9 thus far leading up to today) and that I no longer wish to participate in any ways moving forward with the TV show," wrote JT.
He further wrote:
"I will leave it at that for now… while I work on next steps to recover both physically and mentally from what has been an extremely challenging & exhausting year."
JT had a tumultuous relationship with some of the cast members of Southern Charm
JT's departure has sparked speculation among fans, with some attributing it to conflicts with co-stars Austen Kroll and Shep Rose in the comments section of the post. JT's tumultuous relationships with his castmates were well-documented, particularly his feud with Austen in season 9.
The tension between JT and Austen escalated after JT confessed his feelings for Taylor Ann Green, Shep's ex-girlfriend, whom Austen had recently been intimate with. The situation culminated in a physical altercation between JT and Austen at the finale party.
The Southern Charm cast gathered at Whitney Sudler-Smith's renovated cottage for a party inspired by 1960s softcore movies. However, the evening took a dramatic turn.
Before the party, Jarrett "JT" Thomas confessed his feelings for Taylor Ann Green to Rod Razavi. JT sought Rod's advice, revealing his long-standing crush had intensified since their Jamaica trip. Rod encouraged JT to express his emotions to Taylor.
At the party, JT mustered the courage to tell Taylor how he felt. He professed his love, even suggesting he would marry her tomorrow. However, Taylor didn't reciprocate, needing time to heal and move forward.
Meanwhile, Shep Rose had a conversation with Taylor on the series, making it clear he wasn't interested in rekindling their romance.
Later, Austen Kroll and Olivia Flowers addressed their inconsistent relationship, with Olivia expressing doubts about Austen's genuineness.
Tensions escalated as JT and Austen reconvened at the bar. JT's bitterness toward Austen stemmed from Taylor's past kiss with him.
The situation spiraled out of control, with JT labeling Austen a "snake and a coward." A physical altercation erupted after JT accused Austen of wrongdoing with Shep's girlfriend.
The production crew of Southern Charm intervened, and JT vowed to never interact with Austen again. Shep sided with JT, acknowledging Austen's harmful actions.
According to the official description of Southern Charm season 10, JT's outspoken nature was expected to stir up controversy, straining his relationships with several cast members. However, his connection with Venita seemed to be a positive exception.
Venita, who had broken up with her boyfriend Manny, developed feelings for JT, and their bond deepened as she offered support during his tumultuous times. As JT navigated his complicated friendships, Venita's presence became a constant source of comfort.
Following JT's announcement, people took to social media to support his decision, offering words of encouragement and well-wishes. Bravo representatives have declined to comment on JT's departure.
As JT focuses on his physical and mental well-being, fans await his next steps, wondering what's in store for the reality TV personality.
Season 10 of Southern Charm will return to Bravo on Thursday, December 5, at 9 pm ET. Episodes will be available for streaming on Peacock the next day.
