The much-awaited season 8 of Selling Sunset premiered on September 6 on Netflix, with all 11 episodes released simultaneously, making it an ideal binge-watch.
The fourth episode of the show titled Sitting on a Secret saw several feuds coming to a mutual halt as the people involved understood and felt for each other. One such feud was between Chelsea and Mary.
The duo had been seen having bad blood since the previous episodes, especially since Mary thought Chelsea's open house dress was too short, and she complained to the bosses about it.
In episode 4, when the two came together to discuss work, they confronted each other about their differences. Mary owned up to her mistake and reflected on her past traumas. She shared:
"Since I was 15 I was judged non-stop, because of getting pregnant, and I was from a small town, very religious, and I was just shunned."
The conversation between Chelsea and Mary on Selling Sunset season 8 episode 4
Chelsea had confronted Mary about her thoughts on the length of her dress at Amanza's party in episode 3 of Selling Sunset. Mary said she was hurt about it because it made her look bad.
In episode 4, Chelsea apologized for her remarks and brought up her younger self. She stated:
"I'm not perfect and I do resolve back to my 20-year-old self who was a very triggered individual, and I saw myself go there in that moment."
Mary got teary-eyed and said that she didn't want conflict and just wanted to talk to Chelsea and work things out. Referring to her thoughts on the length of Chelsea's skirt, Mary said she never judged anyone. She justified this by sharing that she was shunned from the religious society she lived in for getting pregnant at the age of 15. She added:
"I don't say anything about it, I don't piss people off, I don't cause drama, because I'd never wanted to do that to somebody, ever."
Chelsea understood her sentiments and said that their traumas made them who they were today. She added that she now felt closer to Mary since she shared something about herself and asked her for a hug. When they hugged, Chelsea told her they were "the same."
Mary began to apologize after this, but Chelsea cut her and asked her not to apologize but to grow from it instead. This was followed by their confrontation on Selling Sunset, where Chelsea told her that she expected an apology at Amanza's party. Mary had taken to a confessional to say:
"What am I apologizing for? Being confused or misspeaking? I did not do anything maliciously."
Chelsea clarified further, saying that when she found out Mary had said things about her through their mutual friends, she wondered if she had missed something. She added that she was the only person at the office to keep things 100% transparent and that because she didn't have a relationship with Mary, she had never said anything negative about her.
She contrasted this with what she thought Mary did, saying she "character assassinated" her instead of apologizing for her words. Chelsea also pointed out the fact that her husband came in between them. To her defense, Mary said he only came in because he felt like his wife was being attacked. Chelsea said "attack" was a strong word, to which Mary agreed and said Chelsea was right.
This conversation occurred before both women shared their childhood traumas and worked to resolve their issues, setting aside their feud on Selling Sunset.
All eight seasons of Selling Sunset are available for streaming on Netflix.
