In Shark Tank season 13 episode 5 that aired on November 5, 2021, Mark Cuban was deeply moved by 19-year-old Tania Speaks, founder of Tania Speaks Organic Skincare. Tania impressed the sharks with her company's financial success, having made $1.4 million in annual revenue.

Cuban was particularly intrigued by Tania's entrepreneurial spirit, and saw potential in her, thinking that his daughters could learn from her. Initially, Cuban declined to invest, citing that Tania's company wasn't a good fit for his portfolio. However, after the other sharks also declined, Cuban reevaluated and offered her $400,000 for a 15% stake in her company.

The deal came with a condition, Cuban wanted Tania to talk to his two teenage daughters. She accepted the offer, and Cuban expressed his hopes that his daughters would learn valuable lessons from the young entrepreneur. The Shark Tank investor admitted that he was willing to make the investment because he saw his own children in Tania.

"I have a daughter who is 14 and a daughter who is 17, Alyssa and Alexis. I want them to meet you, and I want them to learn from you. Maybe you’ll even learn something from them,” said the Shark Tank investor.

During her pitch in Shark Tank season 13 episode 5, Tania Speaks opened up on how she transformed her personal struggles into a thriving business. She shared that as a teenager, she faced bullying due to her thick eyebrows, which led to her attempting to trim them with a razor. The experiment went wrong, resulting in a trip to the emergency room for stitches and uneven eyebrows.

Determined to find a solution, Tania searched for products to help her eyebrows grow back. However, she was unsuccessful in finding effective products. This setback sparked her curiosity, and she began experimenting with natural ingredients to create her own organic brow gel.

Through trial and error, Speaks discovered the hair growth benefits of aloe vera and vitamin E. Her newfound knowledge ultimately led to the birth of her own brand, Tania Speaks Organic Skincare.

Following her appearance on Shark Tank, Tania's company continued to thrive. Before the show, the brand had already achieved an impressive annual revenue of $1.4 million, with the founder personally earning $700,000. With Mark Cuban on board, Tania anticipated further success.

Tania navigated the increased demand for her products after Shark Tank. The young entrepreneur's story resonated with many, leading to a surge in support.

On January 23, 2022, Tania shared a photo of herself and Cuban from the show on Instagram and expressed her gratitude and anticipation for the future. Tania acknowledged the overwhelming support she received, emphasizing that her journey was only just beginning.

"This has been such a monumental experience. When starting my journey, I never imagined being in the same room, let alone making a deal. This is beyond what I could have asked for. I am extremely grateful," captioned Tania.

What businesses and products from season 13 episode 5 of Shark Tank?

Other than Tania Speak Organic Skincare, three other entrepreneurs pitched in front of Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Kevin O'Leary, Barbara Corcoran, and Daymond John. During the same episode, Leila Shams presented TA3 Swimwear, curve-enhancing swimsuits. None of the sharks made an offer, citing concerns about inventory management and the business model.

Next, the founder of HiccAway showcased a device that instantly stops hiccups. Mark Cuban offered a deal that was ultimately accepted at $250,000 for 20% equity. Lastly, Tristen Persons presented Tristen Ikaika, a jewelry brand creating custom rings from hand-bent spoons sourced worldwide. Tristen accepted Kevin O’Leary’s offer of $250,000 for 15% equity, but the deal did not close after the show.
