The news of the Southern Charm star's passing was initially announced on October 22, 2024, through a CaringBridge page. Since 2021, the page shared regular health updates about Michael. Following the stroke three years ago, he spent the rest of his years in Sarasota, Florida, focusing on rehabilitation.

"More than just a devoted butler, he was a trusted friend, confidant, and member of our family for over 20 years. Michael’s time on Southern Charm endeared him to many, as his humor and kindness quickly made him a fan favorite," wrote Patricia.
Patricia concluded her message by stating that she would devote the week to remembering Michael. The cast member acknowledged the significant impact he had on her life and the lives of those who knew him, adding that his absence will be deeply felt.
Whitney Sudler-Smith, Patricia Altschul's son, also paid his respects to Michael Kelcourse. He took to Instagram to honor Michael's memory and referred to him as a beloved family member and a "true legend."
"RIP Michael Kelcourse, aka “Michael the Butler”, a member of the family and a true legend. You will be missed," captioned Whitney.
In a previous interview with The Daily Dish in 2018, Whitney praised Michael's devotion to his mother and his exceptional character. He described Michael as an invaluable asset to his mother, not only for his help with her pets but also for his kind and caring nature.
The news of Michael Kelcourse's passing prompted an outpouring of condolences from the Bravo community. Andy Cohen, who hosts many tell-all shows for the network offered his sympathies to Patricia Altschul on Instagram. He thanked her for sharing Michael and his kindness with the public.
Meanwhile, Cameran Eubanks described Michael as "the best," before taking to her Instagram Story to share a tribute. She remembered Michael as "one of the finest people" she had ever known. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Sutton Stracke also commented on Patricia's post as she shared her condolences.
Landon Clements paid tribute to Michael, remembering him as a "wonderful man" and a devoted friend to Patricia. She recalled the time Michael taught her how to make a classic martini, a skill she would always associate with him.
