Jenn Tran of The Bachelorette confronted Devin Strader for the first time since the latter called off their engagement over the phone in the final episode of season 21. The finale aired on Tuesday, September 3, in which Jenn gave the final rose to Devin, who was in contention with Marcus Shoberg.
The pair broke up shortly afterward but came together on the After the Final Rose special to talk about their relationship and the events on the show. Devin broke up with Jenn over a phone call after their date in Hawai'i and Jenn revealed that she even took the pressure of engagement off the table to give them a chance for survival, but Devin was "checked off".
The former The Bachelorette couple stood in front of each other as Jenn confronted Devin head-on. She revealed the frustration she felt when Devin broke up over a phone call and following girls on Instagram. She name-dropped Maria Georgas, who was a cast member of The Bachelor season 28, along with Jenn.
"Why you would do something like that? Because it completely invalidated our entire relationship, everything that I had felt for you, everything that we'd felt for each other," stated Jenn.
Devin thinks he fell short of Jenn's needs after the filming of The Bachelorette
After Jenn's confession about her frustrations, Devin agreed that he had failed her. The host of The Bachelorette went on to ask Jenn to say her peace one final time. Jenn alleged that Devin made fake promises and failed to realize that his words could hurt someone in the process.
She claimed that she was the type of person to nurture a relationship and not the one who "throws it away the next day."
The conflict got heated when Jenn asked Devin about his whereabouts in New York City and whether he went clubbing with The Bachelorette castmate Jeremy Simon. Devin snapped back at Jenn and explained that he went to meet a work client and he could do whatever he wanted to since it was his life.
Jenn couldn't hold back her emotions when she revealed that she felt empty whenever she watched the episodes and saw Devin talking about being in love with her and wanting to fight for her every day.
She exclaimed that she was the only one who fought for them to stay together and not Devin.
Devin retorted by stating that he felt he was the reason behind Jenn's regression as a person. Jenn again showcased her frustrations and expressed that Devin wasn't ready for love but she was ready to start a family and be loved despite the bad and good times that would come.
Devin ended the conversation by stating that Jenn's feelings were valid.
Devin had a rocky start with his The Bachelorette castmates
During the Men Tell All special, several of Devin's classmates pointed fingers at him. He also received criticism for stealing Jenn for one-on-one time during group dates.
Jenn went on to defend Devin back then, and called out Thomas N. for bringing up Devin during their conversations.
Sam McKinney also called out Devin's behavior during the season and after the series finale aired, Sam shared various Instagram stories which referenced Devin's behavior.
He reposted a story that read, “When the worst person you know was actually right,” along with a photo of himself. He followed this up with a video in which he was sitting in front of a TV watching Devin and Jenn's confrontation.
Thomas N. also posted a photo of Devin in his Instagram story and captioned it with, “Damn. Should’ve kept the main thing the main thing,” which referenced Sam's catchphrase.
He followed this with a video clip of himself sipping on a cup of tea and glaring into the camera silently.
The season finale of The Bachelorette aired on Tuesday, September 3 on ABC.
