Christine often pointed out in the reality show the intimacy issues she had with Kody. The latter took that as an issue regarding Christine's lack of commitment to their plural marriage.

In the premiere episode of Sister Wives season 17 released on September 11, 2022, Christine pointed out the same which irked Kody and blamed her for not believing in their agreement.

“Even if you said you liked plural marriage and would be devoted to it, I wouldn’t believe that for a second,” stated Kody.

Kody later stated he could have handled the situation differently since he wanted to work things out with her former wife and has maintained that he wanted to stay together with all his wives in one big house.
