Season 7 of Netflix's hit reality show Love is Blind premiered on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Singles participated in the experiment to try their luck at love, hoping to find their life partners in the pods. Different individuals from diverse backgrounds joined the cast to discover if love could be found sight unseen.
34-year-old account manager Tyler Francis was one such single in the experiment who hoped to find his wife in the pods. In an episode of the The Viall Files podcast, released on October 3, 2024, Tyler detailed how he ended up on Love is Blind. He admitted he was initially skeptical about responding to the casting call.
"So, I got reached out to on my LinkedIn and I had to research and figure out what was going on. I was like, 'Is this a scam? This has to be something fake' but at no point did they ask for money so I was, like, okay, I'll keep doing these interviews," Tyler said.
The Love is Blind cast member added he accepted the offer because he was fascinated by the show's unique format which allowed singles to prioritize emotional connections over physical ones. Hence, he accepted it, hoping for a better outcome than his past relationships.
Love is Blind star Tyler sheds light on his experience on the show
While speaking on the podcast, Tyler revealed he had "no idea about the show" since he barely watched TV. He claimed to be an "outdoors guy" who did not know much about reality TV shows. When Netflix contacted him on LinkedIn, he wondered if it was a "scam." However, he was convinced to join the show after they explained the process and how everything operated.
Tyler added he got on the show "not knowing anything" about "how to act." He wanted to present his genuine personality.
"I'll just go on be myself and if no one likes me I'll go back home. If someone loves me then, hey, it worked out. So I just went on just with not a care in the world," Tyler admitted.
The Love is Blind star revealed that "some people" jotted down notes while he only wanted to talk to people.
Podcast host, Nick Viall, complimented Tyler, saying he knew how to talk convincingly, to which Tyler responded, "I was just speaking from the heart." He confessed he never went on the show "with a plan" or ulterior motive. He genuinely wanted to know people and "just talk" without pre-planning his next sentence.
When asked about the "blind" dates the cast members went on in the pods, Tyler revealed that everything was "real on the inside." He mentioned nothing was set in stone and they were given the liberty to select the person they wanted to go on a date with and what they wanted their dates to look like.
"You have to send flowers, you have to plan dates, no one is nudging you like, hey, do this, do that," Tyler said.
Nick then asked the Love is Blind star to explain how it felt to see his partner, Ashley Adionser for the first time during the engagement ceremony. Tyler jokingly said he "got lucky" but confessed he would have proposed to her irrespective of her appearance.
The male cast member noted he knew Ashley was the one for him because she made him feel "calm and safe." After all, he could say anything he wanted and there was "no judgment on the other side of the wall."
Later, Tyler opened up about his strategy for talking to other women in the pods, saying, he did not want to discuss appearance because he wanted them to love him for who he was. Appearance was like a "plus" for him, not the primary reason for connecting with someone. He revealed he misguided a few dates by telling them he was white and bald.
Tyler popped the question and got engaged to Ashley in episode 3 of Love is Blind season 7. However, fans await to see if the couple says "yes" at the altar in the wedding episode set to be released on October 23, 2024.
