In the latest episode of Love Island USA Aftersun, which aired on Saturday, July 13, host Maura Higgins was joined by Ariana Madix and the four eliminated contestants — Liv, Caine, Daia, and Catherine. Each recalled their journey on the show, reminiscing about the good and bad times.
Ariana revealed the viewers would see the Raise Your Heart Rate challenge in the coming week, where the islanders' relationships would be tested again. The couples would be introduced to another season 5 'bombshell' Kassy, who would enter the villa to find her partner.
Later in the episode, Maura virtually invited Love Island USA couple Miguel and Leah to analyze their relationship on the show and discuss a potential future after it. Miguel grabbed the opportunity to express how his journey transformed after his return from Casa Amor. Although he arrived coupled with Sierra, he could not overlook his feelings for his Love Island USA beau Leah, leading to their reunion.
"I ain't gonna lie. When I came in, it was...without being disrespectful, it was almost instantaneous. I was just like, yeah, I knew who I wanted to get back with," said Miguel.
Miguel confessed he wanted to test his relationship with Love Island USA co-star Leah
Miguel arrived as a 'bombshell' on day nine of the show. He was initially paired with Liv and appeared to be infatuated with her. However, as he started conversing with the other female islanders, he realized he was more attracted to Nicole, Kendall's partner.
During one of their private conversations, Miguel kissed Nicole and confessed he had feelings for her. However, once Nicole hesitated to indulge in her feelings for him, Miguel shifted his attention to Leah. Leah was coupled with Connor but wanted to end the relationship since she was not attracted to him romantically.
Love Island USA star Miguel took the chance to inform Leah that he was attracted to her. Leah approved of his confession with a kiss and the two coupled up in the next recoupling ceremony.
Soon, Casa Amor was inaugurated and the men were gone for several days.
While speaking to Maura, Miguel said he headed to Casa Amor, wanting to test the durability of his relationship with Leah since it felt new and vulnerable.
"Obviously, when I first, like, started speaking to Leah and then had to go straight to Casa, it was, like, very fresh. So I didn't know, like, if my...I had to test it out. Let's just say that I wanted to test out, see, like, if what I was feeling was actually legit," said Miguel.
At Casa Amor, Miguel formed a strong connection with Love Island USA 'bombshell' Sierra. He was fond of her personality and was physically attracted to her. However, he hesitated to take Sierra to the main villa, revealing that he struggled to forget about Leah. Although he returned with Sierra, he reassured Leah that he was not in a relationship and was still open to others.
In the conversation with Maura, Miguel shared he instantly knew he would gravitate towards Leah again. At the same time, Leah agreed with Miguel, saying "he didn't really owe" her anything since they were a relatively new couple.
The Love Island USA cast member revealed his compatibility with Leah was the best, and he wanted to continue to experience that.
"I feel like she definitely understands me the most. With her, I can just be myself 100%. I'm not holding back at all. We have great conversations and at times, as well, we literally just lay there next to each other and not say anything and just enjoy each other's company," said Miguel.
Miguel said reuniting with Leah was the right thing to do since their relationship felt "natural" and "comforting." He also mentioned that he would continue his relationship with her outside the villa, irrespective of how far they make it in the show.
"I know me and her are still gonna be kicking it. So, yeah, I ain't really stressed, really to be honest," said Miguel.
Love Island USA season 6 airs Thursday to Tuesday at 9 pm ET on Peacock.
