Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets premiered on July 23, 2024 on MTV, featuring Kim Zolciak as one of the cast members. She is also known for her appearance in the hit Bravo series Real Housewives of Atlanta.
In an interview with Too Fab on July 22, 2024, she opened up about filming the new MTV show and how it changed her life, bringing positivity to her daily routine. Amidst her divorce trial from her husband Kroy Biermann, Kim shared that she needed some time away from the entire relationship drama.
Kim Zolciak added that being on Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets with her cast members was refreshing and it helped to "refocus" on herself to get clarity from the situation. She mentioned that it was completely different from the shoot for the Real Housewives franchise. Kim explained that there was no excessive drama or constant beef in the friend group like it was on the Bravo show.

"These people made it super easy for me, it was almost like one big party there. It was just so much fun. It was a great, great, great break for me," Kim added.
For the unversed, Kroy Biermann and Kim Zolciak got married in 2011 and announced their split in May 2023. According to the documents obtained by People magazine, the dates set for their divorce trial are November 5 and 6, 2024.

The Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets star shared in the Too Fab interview that Kim Zolciak was in contact with her attorney the whole time during the divorce proceedings. She also missed her four kids, but a break from what she was going through felt necessary to her. Kim stated it was "stressful" to stay away from her children but the supportive crew members and co-stars made her feel just at home.
Kim added:
"It wasn't easy for sure. It was hard to be away from my children, and there [were] things going on that I had to deal with throughout this entire process of filming which was stressful in itself."
Referring to the filming experience with Real Housewives, Kim added that there was a lot of negative energy on the set and the constant drama would be energy draining. Previously, she didn't get an opportunity to showcase her true authentic self on camera but Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets gave her a chance to do so.
"I went there to just be my raw, authentic self and to show people who I really am, you know, Housewives is a lot. It's negative, it's dark and it's constant drama," Kim added.
She then opened up about how her MTV show co-stars supported her in the tough time. Viewers already know that Kim's ongoing divorce and rumors about her relationship were all over the internet. It was taking a toll on her mental health seeing all the negativity around her. Joining the new reality TV series surprisingly encouraged her to be her true self. Kim further stated:
"I needed to step away to gain some clarity and to kind of refocus on myself, and step outside of this home, and kind of just regroup."
