Hannah Jiles, a participant in Love Is Blind season 7, recently revealed the moment she knew she couldn’t marry Nick Dorka, who she connected with on the show. However, in the lead-up to their wedding, Hannah decided to call off the engagement, citing doubts about their future together.
Reflecting on her decision, Hannah told Swooon on October 19, 2024:
“When I woke up that morning, it didn’t feel right. I just had a feeling. I think that moment was the ‘I can’t do this moment.’”
Despite their strong start on the show, the relationship unraveled before they could walk down the aisle.
The finale episode of Love Is Blind, will air on October 23, with the reunion episode set to premiere on October 30 at 9 PM ET on Netflix.
Hannah and Nick’s journey on Love Is Blind
Hannah and Nick’s relationship on Love Is Blind began in the pods, where they quickly connected. During one of their early conversations, Hannah told Nick:
“I’ll be your Taylor Swift, and you can be my Travis Kelce.”
Their relationship blossomed, but Hannah’s concerns about their differences started to surface as her connection with fellow contestant Leo Braudy grew.
Although Nick reassured Hannah of his intentions, she remained uncertain, eventually breaking things off with Nick — a decision she soon regretted. However, Nick offered her another chance, and the two got engaged after an emotional reconciliation.
Their engagement took them to Mexico, where the couple initially enjoyed their time together. Sparks continued to fly, but things quickly became complicated during an incident involving a plastic duck. Nick’s playful interaction with another woman during a duck race made Hannah feel uncomfortable.
Although Hannah downplayed the incident in her interview with Swooon, saying it wasn’t the primary reason for their split, it did contribute to her growing doubts. She began to question whether Nick’s playful and sometimes immature behavior was compatible with her vision of a serious, long-term partnership.
The breaking point
The couple’s issues deepened after returning from Mexico and moving in together. Hannah quickly realized that their lifestyles were significantly different. Nick’s reliance on his parents—he still used their phone plan and lived in their basement—highlighted concerns about his maturity.
In contrast, Hannah was looking for someone with more independence and initiative. Pointing out Nick’s lack of basic life skills, such as not knowing how to boil water or mount a TV, Hannah mentioned in the latest interview:
“We’re just not on the same page."
Their differences were further exposed during a night out with other couples from Love Is Blind, where Nick reconnected with Katie, a former flame from the pods.
Hannah felt disrespected by Nick’s behavior and expressed her frustrations, which led to a tense confrontation. “I loved Nick, but I had gut feelings I couldn’t ignore,” she said. As the wedding day approached, the tension only escalated.
A disastrous meeting between Nick and Hannah’s friends solidified her doubts. She explained:
“It wasn’t just one thing. It was a combination of moments that made me realize we shouldn’t be getting married.”
In their final conversation on Love Is Blind, Hannah came with a notebook detailing her concerns and laid out all the reasons she believed Nick wasn’t ready for marriage. Nick, feeling attacked, responded that she was “throwing shade for no reason.”
He insisted that he would have gone through with the wedding, but Hannah remained unconvinced, suggesting Nick’s primary concern was avoiding embarrassment. “I don’t know if he’s even real,” she remarked after their breakup, reflecting on their time together on the show.
The dramatic conclusion of Hannah and Nick’s relationship aired in episode 11 of Love Is Blind season 7, leaving viewers with plenty to discuss ahead of the reunion episode.
Fans can watch the reunion on Netflix on October 30 at 9 PM ET, where unresolved tensions and lingering questions are expected to come to light.
