Love is Blind season 7 concluded on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. The finale saw three couples—Taylor and Garrett, Ashley and Tyler, and Marissa and Ramses—contemplate decisions as they prepared for their weddings. While two couples succeeded in overcoming their insecurities and getting married, one succumbed to the pressure of future expectations.
Ramses called off his wedding to Marissa, citing his fear of divorce and unpreparedness for marriage as the primary reasons for his decision. Although the couple officially broke up in the finale, they had been drifting apart for some time. While Ramses and Marissa disagreed on multiple issues, their main conflict revolved around intimacy.
In an interview with Glamour US, published on October 24, 2024, Marissa addressed her conversation about intimacy with Ramses that was shown in episode 10 of Love is Blind. During that conversation, Ramses hugged her, about which Marissa said:
"But I understood why he tried to touch me, because we were such a biblically affectionate couple. So he wanted to try to make me feel better. It just wasn't the right time. Clearly, I just was so annoyed and, honestly, stressed out."
The Love is Blind couple hit a rough patch when Ramses expressed concern over Marissa's lack of intimacy. Marissa explained she could not be intimate because she was unwell. However, Ramses continued to wonder if it would become a problem in the long run.
Love is Blind star Marissa reveals she has an autoimmune disease
Marissa admitted that she and Ramses were a "very physical couple...not just in a s*xual manner, but also affection and touching." Despite this, she revealed that they could not get affectionate with each other the night before they discussed their intimacy. At that moment, Marissa realized something was off.
When she confronted Ramses about it, he stated he was "nervous" about their physical intimacy. Marissa shared that she was caught off guard by his confession, making her feel accountable for his dissatisfaction. She explained she was chronically ill, which was why she could not engage in any intimate activity. However, seeing Ramses not understand her situation compelled her to question his commitment.
"So I instantly got annoyed because we were still getting to know each other and I don't feel good. I have an autoimmune disease. I have rheumatoid arthritis, so I tend to get sick and my body hurts and I don't want to be touched. And there's been a few times before that where he's petting me and I'm overstimulated. I have ADHD," Marissa said.
The Love is Blind star confessed that she went to the balcony to get some air, wondering if he wanted to sever ties because she was chronically ill.
During the interview, Marissa also reflected on the hug Ramses gave her toward the end of their conversation. Although she was not in the mood to show affection, the Love is Blind star confessed that the embrace did not feel like Ramses was disrespecting her boundaries.
She revealed that she grew up without "a lot of physical or emotional boundaries." So, even when she "didn't really want to be touched," she understood that Ramses only hugged her to make her feel better. At the same time, Marissa admitted she was "annoyed" by his gesture because he had just made her feel like she was not physically enough for him.
Marissa said she brought up the statistics about men leaving their wives when they got sick to make Ramses realize the gravity of his statements. She revealed that for most women, intercourse often seemed like a "chore," and she did not want to replicate that in her relationship. So when Ramses insisted on being physical irrespective of her health, it made her wonder:
"How's he going to deal with the fact that I'm gonna flare up and I can't hold up a piece of paper? How's he gonna deal with when I can't have s*x, or I'm PMSing, or I have a child and I'm [in] postpartum?"
The Love is Blind star noted that they had already discussed her autoimmune disease in the pods, where Ramses promised to help her in those moments and be understanding of her. However, his demeanor changed once they started living together. Marissa admitted that physical intimacy was the least of their worries, and seeing Ramses fixated on it infuriated her.
Their relationship crumbled soon. Marissa stated that Ramses talked to a family friend two days before their wedding and got emotional about his divorce. Later, he called a friend and described Marissa in a way that made her "sound crazy." This made her wonder if he even had feelings for her. The female cast member also revealed that Ramses never gave a solid reason for ending their relationship.
