Southern Charm season 9, episode 2 aired on Thursday, December 12, 2024. The episode saw JT sharing with Venita Aspen the aftermath of a tense conversation he had with Craig Conover and Shep Rose. JT described his conversation as "heavy."
“Well, I had a conversation with Craig and Chip, and it was kind of a, it was kind of heavy. Craig and Chip both got in my face when I mentioned Austin's gray area girlfriend thing that Leva mentioned on the bus,” JT said about his conversation.
This sparked friction between the group’s members, underscoring JT’s struggles to integrate himself into the tightly-knit friend group.
The episode also highlighted JT's awkward attempts to find his footing within the Southern Charm crew. As the cast gathered for indoor golf and later at Patricia Altschul’s Easter party, JT’s social maneuvers drew mixed reactions.
Southern Charm: JT’s conversation with Venita and the aftermath
In his conversation with Venita in Southern Charm, JT opened up about his interaction with Craig and Shep, which revolved around Austen’s alleged infidelity. JT recalled bringing up a comment made by Leva Bonaparte about Austen’s “gray area girlfriend thing.” According to JT, the two friends “came in so hot” during the discussion, leaving him feeling attacked.
“Craig and Chip [Shep] both got in my face... I was like, okay, I put my hands up,” he said, describing the heated exchange.
Venita responded with a mix of concern and caution, suggesting JT approach his new friendships more strategically.
“JT, you just got back in the friend group. Let’s play it cool... until you start bringing up things that don’t really matter,” Venita noted in her confessional.
Craig later recounted the incident, describing JT’s behavior as “erratic” and accusing him of stirring unnecessary drama. Austen added his perspective, dismissing JT as a “miserable little rat” and questioning his motives.
What happened in the episode
The episode provided a closer look at JT’s struggle to fit into the Southern Charm dynamic. Early on, JT met with his mother and sister at his latest property, touted as the largest Airbnb in downtown Charleston.
While discussing his plans for the property, his sister called him out for gifting Patricia a cane, labeling the gesture “insensitive.” She advised him to write Patricia an apology letter, but JT opted to apologize in person instead.
Later, JT joined Craig and Austen for indoor golf, despite being unable to play due to an ATV accident. During their conversation, JT revisited a past incident involving Madison LeCroy wearing his outfit during a cast trip. He claimed Madison’s husband, Brett, suspected something inappropriate had occurred, though Craig and Austen dismissed JT’s interpretation of the situation.
Madison’s response to JT’s insinuations worsens the situation. During a conversation, she shut down JT’s attempts to create drama, suggesting he “watch the show” to understand her perspective. At Patricia’s Easter party, Madison made it clear she would not tolerate JT’s antics, stating she would “mess him up” if he continued to stir the pot.
The Easter party in Southern Charm also featured lighter moments, including Shep’s toast and introductions to new cast members Ryan and Dr. Eddie. However, tensions remained high, particularly after Whitney made an insensitive comment to his former flame, Molly.
JT’s efforts to hold Austen accountable for past actions fell flat, as the group’s members questioned his intentions. Craig and Austen, in particular, were vocal about their frustrations, with Craig noting that JT’s behavior might jeopardize his place in the friend group.
Whether Austen will confront JT or not will be revealed in the next episodes. Every Thursday at 9 pm ET, Southern Charm's new episodes from season 10 premiere exclusively on Bravo TV.
