Love Island USA season 6 star Rob Rausch, a snake wrangler by profession, initially paired with Leah Kateb. Despite their chemistry, the pair failed to continue their relationship inside the Fijian villa.
In an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, titled Rob's Love Island Tell All, released on July 24, 2024, Rob shared the details about his breakup with Leah. He admitted his involvement with "bombshell" Andrea Carmona, stirred his relationship with Leah, ultimately leading to their breakup.
"I feel like it was mostly my fault that it happened that way. I mean, she'll admit some fault in it as well but it felt like it was mostly my fault, but it just didn't work," Rob explained.
Andrea was attracted to Rob and convinced him to recouple with her. Rob confessed that he was torn between the two women, and struggled to voice his feelings. He claimed he broke up with his Love Island USA partner mainly because of the lack of proper communication.
Season 6 finale aired on July 21, 2024, on Peacock.
Rob claims he made the right choice by coupling up with Love Island USA "bombshell" Andrea
Host Alex Cooper asked Rob to shed some light on the last conversation he and Leah had before breaking up. She branded the conversation as their "breaking point" which caused a permanent rift between them.
The Love Island USA cast member revealed that it was a "pretty long conversation" that got "worse".
"Leah was coming at me like saying what she was saying, which I thought was like perfectly valid. And I kept telling her that I was like, I get where you're coming from and like, I'm trying to see from your perspective because I get it is hurting you. It would hurt me too if I was in your shoes," said Rob.
Rob started questioning his relationship with Leah after going on a date with Andrea. He realized he was attracted to the latter.
Meanwhile, Andrea revealed to the female islanders that she kissed Rob on their date. Leah felt devastated and confronted Rob about his feelings. During their private conversation, Rob had an emotional outburst, accusing Leah of not letting him speak his mind.
In the podcast, he revealed he grew up as an introverted person, who struggled to express himself. So when Leah completely shut him out, he felt constrained and vulnerable.
"Every time I tried to talk, she [Leah] kept like cutting me off and she wouldn't let me speak. And then it started, I started getting emotional and then I was like, I just need to step away. And then I start crying... and just crying induced like a panic attack," Rob added.
The Love Island USA cast member mentioned that he tried to calm himself but Leah kept "saying the same things." She prevented him from voicing his feelings and steered the conversation around to her.
"What set me off was she just didn't ask me like how I felt, which I think that triggered a lot of people. They were like, it matters more what she feels in that moment. And 100% I was the one causing the situation and I, I was taking responsibility for that. I was trying to, but also like just needed someone just to check on me," Rob shared.
He felt that she failed to cater to his needs because she was "really upset." At the same time, he admitted that had Andrea not arrived, he would have stayed with his Love Island USA partner.
Rob regretted not communicating his genuine feelings to Leah before the recouping ceremony where he chose Andrea. He said he should not have "blindsided her."
The Love Island USA cast member claimed he made the "right decision" by pairing up with Andrea. He was "smitten" by her and confessed he had "a great time" while he was with her, whereas with Leah, Rob felt that since their "communication styles" were different, it created tension between the two.
He also added that he struggled to trust Leah after Andrea's elimination. He felt that she allegedly lied to him about not badmouthing the duo.
Leah ultimately coupled up with Miguel and became the season 6 runners-up, whereas Rob— paired with Kassy— was eliminated ahead of the finale.
Love Island USA season 6 reunion is set to be released on August 19, 2024.
