In the new Netflix series W.A.G.s to Riches which premiered on January 22, 2025, Lastonia Leviston, known as Stoni, revisits her past lawsuit against rapper 50 Cent, encapsulating the emotional weight of her experience surrounding the leaked sex tape and the subsequent legal battle that followed. She said,

"It is petty and it still haunts me to this day."

The lawsuit, which stemmed from a 2009 incident where a private video of Leviston was released without her consent, became a significant point of contention in the public feud between 50 Cent and her ex-boyfriend, rapper Rick Ross.

The case not only drew media attention but also highlighted issues of privacy, consent, and the repercussions of public exposure, making it a pivotal moment in Leviston's life.

Revisiting the past: W.A.G.s to Riches

Lastonia Leviston's lawsuit against 50 Cent

Background of the lawsuit

The lawsuit emerged from a 2009 incident when a sex tape featuring Leviston was leaked online. The video, which included 50 Cent narrating in a wig, was allegedly obtained from her ex-boyfriend, Maurice Murray. In 2015, a jury ordered 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson III, to pay Leviston $5 million for the unauthorized release of the tape. During the trial, Leviston testified,

"This was something done to me. I didn’t have a choice. I would never, ever do this to myself."

The case gained significant media attention, particularly due to the ongoing feud between 50 Cent and Leviston's ex, rapper Rick Ross. In the premiere episode of W.A.G.s to Riches, Leviston discussed the personal ramifications of the leaked tape. She expressed that the incident contributed to a rift between her and her co-stars, stating,

"So things happened that Rick isn’t so happy about. The sex tape. I was dating this guy a long, long time ago. He was into videotaping me and he didn’t even really ask. He would just pull it out. Never once in my brain did I think I would have sex with him on tape."

Leviston elaborated on her relationship with the man featured in the tape, explaining that he recorded their intimate moments without her consent, stating that at the time, she did not feel unsafe and felt happy. Leviston also shared the emotional toll the incident took on her life.

"In that second, my whole life changed. The minute the tape was released, nothing was the same. I became suicidal and I didn’t want to live anymore. I felt like I was damaged goods," she stated.

The W.A.G.s to Riches star highlighted the long-lasting effects of the incident on her mental health and self-perception.

Legal proceedings and financial implications

The legal proceedings surrounding the case were complex. After the jury's verdict, 50 Cent's attorney, William A. Brewer III, expressed disappointment but indicated plans to file post-verdict motions to reduce the award amount.

"Our client intends to file post-verdict, pre-judgment motions which we believe should reduce the size of the award," Brewer stated.

The rapper later filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, complicating the financial aspects of the case. The W.A.G.s to Riches star addressed her financial situation in the show, defending her choices and the management of the awarded money.

"I didn’t have anything given to me. The money that they said I lost was all mine," she explained.

This statement was made in response to comments from her co-stars regarding her financial decisions post-lawsuit.
