"It's like an investment" — Young, Famous & African star Swanky quips about the reason to mend relationship with Annie

In episode 6 of Young, Famous & African season 3, Zari visited Annie at her home, hoping to resolve their issues. Annie apologized for laughing at Zari's younger husband. Zari accepted the apology, but things took a turn when she revealed that Swanky was waiting in her car. Zari wanted to help Swanky and Annie resolve their differences.

Annie was upset, but the three of them sat down to talk. Zari acted as a mediator, helping them work through their issues. Previously as seen in episode 3, Swanky had been upset with Annie for talking badly about him behind his back despite knowing each other for over a decade. Annie had denied the allegations when Swanky confronted her which led to Swanky saying he was done with their friendship.

However, with Zari's help, Swanky and Annie were able to move past their differences. They both apologized, and Swanky expressed his desire to preserve their friendship. He felt that he had invested too much in their relationship to let it go to waste.

"I'm fighting for what we shared. I don't want to feel like I wasted my life. I wasted my efforts, my emotions, my talent, my money. Just everything. It's like an investment. Annie's like an investment for me," stated Swanky.

Young, Famous & African stars Annie and Swanky opened up about past conflicts

On Young, Famous & African, as mentioned before, Annie initially expressed concern when Swanky arrived, knowing they had unresolved issues. Zari, who had squashed her conflict with Annie, called over Swanky as he had been friends with both women. Zari hoped that they could resolve their issues and move past their differences.

When Swanky greeted Zari and Annie, Zari asked him to address the tension between him and Annie. Swanky explained that Annie had spoken negatively about him to Fantana, which hurt him. Annie admitted to warning Fantana about Swanky, but claimed it was because she couldn't trust him anymore.

"The reason why I said, 'Don’t trust,' I said I can't trust him anymore. Like I've been friends with him for this long, and because I still believe in my heart that voice note that I know it's a lie," revealed Annie.

The conversation revealed a deeper issue between Swanky and Annie, stemming from a past phone conversation that Annie believed was recorded and saved on Swanky's laptop. Swanky clarified that it was a phone call, not a voice note, and that Annie had called the girl he was speaking with on a separate phone.

Annie became emotional, feeling that Swanky was changing his story. Annie ultimately apologized to Swanky on Young, Famous & African for hurting him over the past two years.

Zari encouraged Swanky to accept Annie's apology and move forward. Swanky expressed his desire to put the past behind them but also wanted Annie to take responsibility for her actions.

"We can let it go, but I don't want to also continuously feel like I can't keep it real with you. You understand?" Swanky stated.

In a confessional, Swanky reflected on his actions, saying he consistently gave Annie chances and tried to help her grow. However, he realized he couldn't keep fighting for their friendship if it didn't seem to matter to Annie. The conversation took a positive turn when Swanky acknowledged that they were fighting for their relationship.

Zari pointed out that they missed each other, and Swanky agreed on Young, Famous & African. The three friends shared a heartfelt moment, and Annie appreciated Swanky's words of appreciation. Swanky later described himself as someone with empathy and compassion, who loved and fought hard for the people he cared about.
