Survivor season 47 episode 3, showed all tribes competing to win a task to receive "safety" in the game. During the challenge, three participants from each tribe, Rome Cooney, Kyle Ostwald, and Anika Dhar went on a journey together. The three players had a conversation about an alleged showmance between Gata tribe members Sam Phalen and Sierra Wright.

Rome and Kyle asked Anika if they both "were a thing" to which Anika was quick to respond. She said that they both were committed to their partners back home but were close in discussing game strategy and had built a "really tight bond." When the Survivor contestant returned, she informed Sam and Sierra about this.

The 24-year-old sports reporter from Nashville, Tennessee shut down these claims immediately. He told the cameras that he was engaged, reassuring his fiancée that he was not romantically involved with anyone on the show. Sam clarified:

“This is ridiculous. I am engaged. Hannah, babe, if you’re watching this, I am not in a relationship with Sierra on ‘Survivor.’ It is a strict strategic relationship. I promise you, I’m thinking about you the whole time and I’m talking about you every day.”

Survivor season 47 episode 3 titled Belly of the Beast was released exclusively on CBS on October 2, 2024. The episode synopsis reads as the following:

"Three castaways go on a journey and make a big decision that will impact the game; in the challenge, tribes must climb their way to the top to earn a reward that will provide comfort at camp as well as safety in the game."

Sam and Sierra react to fellow Survivor players considering them a couple

On the Survivor season 47, Anika revealed Sam and Sierra's "strategic relationship" giving the other tribe information access that Sam had an alliance with Sierra. During Kyle's confessional, he addressed that this "exposed" information would "benefit" him in the future. This disclosed the Gata tribe's main alliance, Kyle said:

“We all kind of figured that Sam was going to be running the show at Gata. But you can’t run the show by yourself. And so now that Anika exposed this information to me, I feel like I can use that to my benefit in the future.”

The Survivor season 47 Gata tribe member, Sierra on the other hand stated that she was concerned how a "speculation" might affect her next move. The 27-year-old nurse from Phoenixville, Pennsylvania also mentioned that there was no showmance going on. Sierra stated she would be careful with planning her next step, now that she was aware of the "speculation." She said,

"So, it’s like, come on! It concerns me that now there’s this speculation that Sam and I are working together, because that could really blow up both of our games. That’s something we definitely need to keep in mind moving forward in this game.”

In the Wednesday episode, Sam and Sierra’s Gata tribe alongside the Tuku tribe were able to save themselves. Lavo tribe members had to vote out one of their contestants, which ultimately sent Aysha Welch home. The upcoming episodes will highlight whether Kyle will take advantage of Anika breaking the tribe code.
