The Los Angeles wildfires started in the Pacific Palisades on Tuesday, January 7, 2024, leaving the city in devastation as it forced many to evacuate, including several celebrities. Many took to social media to share updates about their experience of the Los Angeles wildfires and how they had to evacuate their houses.
Julianne Hough, Heidi Montag, Bozoma Saint John, and Chrishell Stause were among the stars to keep fans updated about their situation and the process of evacuation. Dancing With the Stars host, Julianne Hough shared a video on her Instagram story on January 8, 2025, to reveal that a fire had broken out near her home. In response, she quickly took her dog and drove out of the city to ensure their safety.
She urged her Los Angeles followers to evacuate immediately, even if the fire wasn't close to their house, explaining that they'd be stuck in the traffic if they took long.
“That is not good. So, everybody please be safe and send prayers to all the first responders and firefighters,” she added

1) Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt
Los Angeles wildfires destroyed the house of The Hills alums Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt after they had evacuated from their family home. The couple lived at the home with their two sons, Gunner and Ryker.
Montag shared a TikTok video on January 8, 2025, reflecting on the incident. She explained how a person's "brain just freaks out" while trying to pack during a fire emergency. Heidi noted that it was "overwhelming" to pack up their house as she recalled packing two pairs of jeans and two shirts for herself.
“I got so much more clothes for the kids. I’m like, ‘Why didn’t I grab more?’ Thankfully, I grabbed anything and that’s such a blessing and the main thing is that we’re safe,” she said in the video.
2) Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy
Jenna Johnson shared an Instagram story on January 9, 2025, informing fans about her and her husband's evacuation. She wrote that she and her husband Val Chmerkovskiy, along with their two-year-old son Rome had evacuated their LA home on Thursday and were “safe and good.”
She noted that while they did not get any mandatory evacuation alerts on Los Angeles wildfires, they were scared about the situation and the bad air quality, so they decided to leave.
“Just wanted to do a little update. We decided to leave L.A. this evening. It just felt too much, too scary. We didn’t have a mandatory evacuate [alert], but we just — it didn’t feel right to stay there and the air quality was so, so bad,” she said.
The Dancing With the Stars pro dancer expressed her sorrow stating that many people have suffered significant losses during this time. She remarked on the sad start to 2025 adding that she couldn’t fathom the extent of the heartbreak people are experiencing.
3) Gabby Windey
The Traitors season 3 star Gabby Windey and her girlfriend, Robby Hoffman left their home early on the morning of January 8, 2025. In her Instagram story shared on Wednesday, Windey shared that they evacuated at 4 am due to heavy smoke and a power outage.
“Feel incredibly lucky we have somewhere to go and praying [for] everyone losing their homes, firefighters, medical staff and patients,” she wrote in her Instagram story.
4) Chrishell Stause and G Flip
The Selling Sunset star, Chrishell Stause revealed in her January 8, 2025, Instagram story that she, her spouse G Flip, and their dog Gracie had left their house. She told her followers that they were safe and had evacuated after learning about the Los Angeles wildfires.
"Immediate evacuation in my area. Me, G & Gracie are safe and out of the house," she wrote in her story.
She expressed her sorrow over the devastating situation by adding broken heart emojis to her story.
Some of the celebrities who lost their homes in the Los Angeles wildfires also include Paris Hilton, Mandy Moore, Anthony Hopkins, and Billy Crystal, among others.
