In the latest season of Tex Mex Motors, Rabbit Pitts shared his vision for a vintage Mercedes. The moment unfolded during episode 6, where the crew's signature ingenuity and passion for restoration took center stage.

With Rabbit leading the way, the team saw the potential to transform the classic Mercedes 300D into a showstopper tailored for a younger audience. Rabbit Stated,

"Could you imagine this thing with a wild graffiti paint job? It’s like an art car.”

Season 2 of Tex Mex Motors premiered on November 22, 2024, on Netflix. Featuring returning cast members Scooter and Rabbit, alongside newcomers Jaime Hjelm and Wesley Zachary, the series dives into restoring forgotten vehicles. This season is particularly poignant as it marks Rabbit's final appearance following his passing.

Tex Mex Motors: Securing the Mercedes

The team’s hunt for the perfect restoration project led Scooter and Rabbit to Mexico, where they found the classic Mercedes. Scooter admired it immediately, calling it "pretty solid" and expressing satisfaction with Cabe's find. After a brief introduction with the seller, Cisco, Rabbit, and Scooter got down to business.

Rabbit got to know about other shops that were willing to buy this car, and he confessed to the hurdles of sourcing such vehicles by stating,

"We've got a lot of money invested, and you don't want to see a bunch of other people jumping in on what you're doing."

Cisco explained that the car was brought across the border to improve its chances of being sold. The negotiation was swift but calculated. Cisco asked for $2,500, factoring in his effort to transport the car. Rabbit countered with $2,200, reasoning,

“I’ll give you $2,200 bucks for it. $2,200 in your hand. This thing’s out of your hair.”

Cisco agreed, and the Mercedes became the newest project for Tex Mex Motors.

First impressions: Bringing the car to the garage

Once the Mercedes was safely at the garage, the team marveled at its condition. “Look at the interior,” Scooter exclaimed. Jaime agreed, noting,

“Somebody really took care of this thing.”

Wesley pointed out the car's historical significance, emphasizing Mercedes' reputation for innovation and class. He also remarked on the vehicle's rising appeal among younger buyers seeking vintage models for social media clout.

The car’s sturdy diesel engine and timeless design sparked ideas within the team. Rabbit saw the potential to appeal to a younger market. He envisioned it as a unique, affordable build, saying,

“This car, we need to appeal to a younger market… not everybody can afford a $60,000, $70,000, $80,000 build.”

Transforming the Mercedes into an “art car”

Rabbit’s plan for the car was ambitious and creative. He proposed a “stanced, wide-body” design with vintage European racing wheels and graffiti-inspired paint.

Jaime supported the vision, suggesting that Lucky could refine the interior to match the bold exterior. The team’s goal was clear: to make the Mercedes a standout piece with wide market appeal. Rabbit believed the finished car could sell for $30,000, making it a profitable project for the shop.

Jaime expressed confidence in the team’s abilities, highlighting the importance of Andy’s execution of the paint job. In a confessional, she acknowledged the risks, stating,

“The paint job can go from cool effect to tacky clown car.”

Season 2 of Tex Mex Motors holds special significance as it commemorates Rabbit’s final work with the team.
