The Traitors returned for a third season on January 1, 2025, on Peacock, 10 months after Kate Chastain's victory in season 2. The competition series, hosted by Alan Cumming at a Scottish castle, merges reality TV stars with high-stakes gameplay and a $250,000 prize pool.
In the second season, 22 contestants from shows like Below Deck, Survivor, and The Challenge tackled daily missions while three secret traitors—Dan Gheesling, Phaedra Parks, and Kate Chastain—worked to eliminate players each night. The remaining contestants met at roundtable sessions to vote out suspected traitors.
At the end of the series, Chastain claimed the $208,100 prize on March 7, 2024, after maintaining her cover until the final vote.
Kate Chastain won The Traitors season 2 with $208,100 prize
Three traitors—Dan Gheesling, Phaedra Parks, and Kate Chastain—got their roles on night one. The first group vote sent home Peppermint from RuPaul's Drag Race after heated discussions about loyalty. Dan Gheesling's game ended early when he tried to implicate fellow traitor Phaedra Parks, making him the first traitor eliminated through a roundtable vote.
The traitors eliminated one player each night through secret meetings. Sandra Diaz-Twine from Survivor built strong social connections but faced constant suspicion.
CT Tamburello from The Challenge formed alliances with multiple players while working to identify the traitors. Ross revealed a crucial game connection during his exit, announcing Diane as his mother, which sparked new theories about potential secret partnerships.
The remaining traitors maintained their cover through calculated social plays. They split votes between faithful players and created doubt among strong alliances. Kate Chastain established trust with key players like MJ Javid while secretly working against them.
Mid-game shifts
Phaedra Parks became a target mid-season. Her elimination marked a shift in game control as Kate Chastain emerged as the primary strategic force. The remaining players of The Traitors season 2 formed tight groups, with Jaz establishing himself as a perceptive player who spotted subtle behavioral changes.
CT Tamburello built a strong alliance network while MJ Javid and Sheree Whitfield gained influence through social connections. Several traitor recruits joined throughout the season but didn't last long in the game. Kate Chastain used these new additions strategically, letting them take the fall while maintaining her innocent appearance.
Final week
The game then reached its critical phase with five players remaining. Kate Chastain made a bold move by eliminating Sheree Whitfield, a strong player who could have exposed her role. Sandra Diaz-Twine left the game after Kate convinced other players to vote against her. CT and Mollie formed a strong partnership, creating a final push to identify the remaining traitor.
The Traitors season 2 finale brought intense confrontations at the roundtable. Kate Chastain manipulated the final votes, leading to her victory and the $208,100 prize. The reunion, hosted by Andy Cohen, revealed hidden game moments and strategy discussions. MJ Javid directly addressed the gameplay tactics, particularly the final round decisions.
In the final episode, Kate Chastain’s strategic approach proved successful as she maintained her deception until the final moment. In an exit interview on Bravo’s The Daily Dish, she opened up about her experience on the show.
"I had already played one season as a Faithful and came in as Faithful this season. But even then, there are moments where, even when I was the last standing Traitor, I still left feeling like, 'I think he could be a Traitor?'" she shared.
"But this game, you feel insecure in every position. And you second guess everything, everybody around you and yourself. So I was not 100 percent on anything," she continued.
Season 2 concluded with revelations about alliances and strategy decisions that influenced the game's outcome.
The Traitors season 3 is airing on Peacock.
