Nick Viall has been very candid about sharing his thoughts on Vanderpump Rules star James Kennedy's domestic violence arrest and his response surrounding the incident. As per ABC News, Kennedy was arrested by police in Burbank, Los Angeles, in response to a domestic dispute on December 10, 2024.
Officers were called to the scene where a woman claimed her boyfriend had lifted her and thrown her to the ground, prompting the arrest.
James issued a statement via Instagram on December 17, 2024, a week after his arrest, expressing his desire to improve and work on himself.
"I am committed to making meaningful changes in my life," he wrote.
Reacting to the statement, Nick Viall shared his thoughts on the December 19, 2024, episode of The Viall Files podcast. He described the statement as "embarrassing" and expressed his hope that the Vanderpump Rules star would "never work again."
“The piece of s**t loser that he is, James Kennedy, has issued a statement on his Instagram Stories that was set to expire for 24 hours. This is an embarrassing statement by James,” he said in the podcast.
Nick Viall believes Vanderpump Rules star James Kennedy should take responsibility for his actions
Vanderpump Rules star James Kennedy was arrested on December 10, 2024, for alleged domestic violence against a cohabitant, as per ABC News.
A week after the incident, the reality star took to his Instagram story on December 17, 2024, and released a statement where he expressed his desire to overcome the challenge and make improvements in his life.
"I am taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth, and being present for my loved ones. Navigating challenging moments is not easy, but I am determined to learn, grow, and move forward with the incredible support system around me," his statement read.
Reading the statement on The Viall Files podcast, the podcast host inquired what "meaningful changes" the Vanderpump Rules star was planning to make in his life. He wondered if James was talking about his "physical abuse of women."
Nick further called out James for mentioning his "sobriety" in the message and criticized him for using his drinking as an excuse for his alleged behavior
"He’s blaming the alcohol. He’s a ‘victim of his addiction. I know a lot of people who drink. I know a lot of people who, sadly, struggle with drinking too much alcohol, many of which— well, all of them that I know— don’t beat their partners, or pick them up and throw them, or don’t have a history of situations like that,” Nick added.
The host took issue with James' pledge to "move forward" and argued that James failed to properly address the gravity of the incident or take accountability for his actions.
Nick felt that instead of acknowledging the severity of domestic violence, the reality star seemed to sidestep the issue. He later called James "the weakest of the Vanderpump Rules men," implying that he lacked the maturity to confront his actions and take responsibility.
The Viall Files host further criticized James Kennedy, describing him as a "small human individual" with "very large insecurities" about his identity. Nick noted that James is "easily triggered" and suggested that, when feeling inadequate or "small," the Vanderpump Rules star has a pattern of taking out his frustrations on his girlfriends.
“I would have liked to see James saying, ‘Hey, I want to come on here and acknowledge what…I’ve been ignoring: I’m an abuser of women. I apologize not only to the current person I abused, but to all the people from my past that this must be a very triggering and difficult time, one of which is a pregnant woman right now,'" Nick said.
Nick also criticized those close to James for attempting to shield his alleged history of domestic violence from public scrutiny. He pointed out Lisa Vanderpump, who was close to the Vanderpump Rules star, and said that she might be "complicit in this cover-up of James' behavior."
