"Lost six kilograms" — Dubai Bling's Danya opens up about her experience with Hyperemesis gravidarum during pregnancy

Dubai Bling season 3, which premiered on January 8, 2025, saw Danya's third pregnancy cause a physical altercation between her husband DJ Bliss, and co-star, Ebraheem. The latter revealed the news to their entire friend circle without Danya's consent even though she asked him not to. After the season premiere, Danya finally opened up about her pregnancy struggles with Hyperemesis gravidarum.

In an interview with Harper's Bazaar Arabia, published on January 10, 2025, Danya discussed the obstacles she faced while dealing with her third pregnancy. She revealed she was diagnosed with a condition called Hyperemesis gravidarum, which caused severe nausea and vomiting. It was so severe that Danya had to seek medical attention daily.

While recalling her experience and reflecting on its impact on her health, she said:

"I was in an emergency every single week. They knew me by name. I lost six kilograms."

The Dubai Bling star added she would not wish it on her "worst enemy," noting how "sick" it made her during that time. Even then, she deemed herself "lucky" because she experienced it only for the first five months of her pregnancy. However, the lack of awareness regarding the condition bothered Danya, who confirmed experiencing the same during her previous pregnancies as well.

Although Danya was aware of the complications surrounding childbirth, she had not expected her third pregnancy to be as challenging. On January 11, 2025, she took to Instagram to share an image from her official pregnancy photoshoot with Harper's Bazaar Arabia. In the caption of the picture, she called her third pregnancy "one of the hardest pregnancies ever."

In the interview, the Dubai Bling star shared that the symptoms of Hyperemesis gravidarum started to show even before she knew she was carrying a child.

"It started before I knew I was expecting. I thought it was food poisoning... I did a pregnancy test. I found out I was pregnant and then I think it started around four or five weeks — for some people, it stays with them the first trimester," Danya said.

The experience became even more challenging for the 33-year-old star because it coincided with the filming of Dubai Bling season 3. Danya revealed that her condition prevented her from attending events or showing up on set for her scenes.

Moreover, since it was a practice among women of Emirati culture not to disclose their pregnancy until they were at least 12 weeks into their term, Danya could not explain why she had to skip certain occasions.

"I was filming and I wasn't feeling well, and I couldn't tell anyone I was pregnant... My whole thing was like... keep it a secret - which caused drama on the show. I was sick, so I couldn't show up to filming sometimes or attend certain events, like a few of Mona Kattan's," she stated.

While talking about how she kept the news concealed from the public, she said that she "just tried to stay at home." However, if her presence in public could not be avoided and fans requested her for pictures, she would strictly click a selfie with them without showing her belly.

Additionally, the Dubai Bling star shared some dressing tips to hide the bump. While she wore dresses for comfort, she recommended wearing clothes with patterns. She also suggested "going for a baggy look" or trying on "some very flowey dresses."

Danya commended DJ Bliss for managing his duties as a father and a DJ. She appreciated his efforts, complimenting him for checking in on the baby, changing the diaper, and being a "great dad."
