Love After Lockup season 5 episode 57 recap: Sam and Krystal get into a disagreement while Hunter reveals the truth

Love After Lockup has been entertaining audiences since 2018. The show follows the lives of former inmates and their partners. Now in its fifth season, the show explores the challenges these couples face after prison. This season features several couples, including Sam and Krystal, Kerok and Britney, Melissa and Louie, Tia and Rob, Hunter, Kate and Kayleigh, and Zeruiah and Troy, among others.

Previously, Rob reunited with his family after being released from prison. Savannah tried to fix her relationship with her boyfriend's sister after a fight. Jakeema also found out more about her partner's prison charges.

In the recent episode released on January 24, Sam and Krystal argued because Sam chose not to visit Krystal in prison. Hunter made a shocking confession that surprised both Kate and Kaleigh. Tia expressed her frustration to Rob about his behavior. MJ and her ex-husband Ami met up again.

What happened in Love After Lockup season 5 episode 57?

The Love After Lockup episode kicked off with Krystal confronting Sam over a phone call for not showing up at the prison to meet her as they previously planned. While Sam tried to defend himself, Krystal revealed that she cried in her bunk waiting for him. Sam expressed that he needed time for himself so that he could handle their complicated situation.

In another segment of Love After Lockup, Rob had just been released from prison and his wife Tia welcomed him home with family and friends. However, Tia soon complained that Rob wasn't giving her enough attention. After Rob took a walk with his friends, which upset Tia. She called him, asking him to hurry back, and expressed her desire to spend time with him.

When Rob got back, their conversation escalated, with Tia feeling disrespected when Rob took a phone call. Rob expressed his concerns in a confessional feeling like he was still in prison due to Tia's demands.

"I don't wanna feel locked up. That's not what we're doing. It's not gonna work," said Rob.

In Love After Lockup, MJ met up with her ex-husband Ami despite being unsure of his intentions. Ami said he was happy to see her and wanted to rekindle their relationship. MJ was shocked and told Ami she didn't believe him, adding that she was already in a relationship. MJ later admitted in a confessional that Ami knew how to get to her, given their 13-year marriage.

MJ initially planned to take an Uber to the airport, but Ami offered to drive her instead. This led MJ to ask Ami why he kept leading her on. In a confessional, MJ expressed her conflicting emotions, saying she loved Ami but was confused. She decided to return home and avoid dealing with her feelings.

"I love him but I'm so confused. I'm just gonna go home. I don't wanna deal with it. I don't wanna deal with what's going on," stated MJ in a confessional.

Later on Love After Lockup, Kate was with Leah in a park when Hunter called her from prison. He admitted to getting into trouble with someone from the Write A Prisoner program. Hunter further revealed that he was intimate with her. Kate was upset and felt disgusted that he shared this with her, seemingly to ease his own guilt. Hunter explained that the incident happened before they started dating.

Hunter later told Kaleigh about him talking to his ex, Katie from the past few months. In a confessional, Hunter revealed that he didn't wish to break Kaleigh's heart but wanted to come out with the truth.
