Love After Lockup season 5 released a new episode on Friday, September 13, 2024. It saw Shonta and True juggling the challenges of everyday life amidst the former's pregnancy. While Shonta tried to secure a safer future for her unborn children, True promised to support her every step of the way.
However, Shonta was not entirely convinced by True's promises. She doubted his genuineness, and wondered if keeping him in her life would be the wisest decision for her children's future. In the meantime, True confessed he wanted to change the course of his life because he did not want to return to prison.
In episode 38, Shonta accompanied her Love After Lockup partner to his PO meeting. However, on their way, True took a detour and met his female friend, while lying to Shonta about it. Suspicious of his activities, Shonta refused to let True come to her ultrasound.
When True met Shonta's best friend, he faced a series of questions about his profession. The friend feared True was only interested in Shonta's money and resources.
"I'm just annoyed" — Love After Lockup star Shonta comments on True's behavior
In the latest episode, Shonta accompanied True to his PO meeting in a separate car. It was a 5-hour drive, for which she took time off work, hired a babysitter, and rented a hotel room and a car to be with him.
True explained that Shonta brought "her own ride" because she feared he might get locked up after his probation meeting. The Love After Lockup star stated "it felt good" to have someone support him. Consequently, he wanted to sort everything out before his children were born.
Meanwhile, Shonta mentioned True had to "have his life in order" before she was due. She accompanied the cast member to know "what's going on" and figure out, once and for all, if he would be there when she would give birth.
On his way, True met with a female friend, but lied about it to Shonta.
"I've been in Cape for like, 5 minutes, 10 minutes. I just got lost a little bit," True said.
He explained he took the wrong exit because it was "too dark." At that point, Shonta realized he was not being honest with her.
"I'm just annoyed. I feel, like, True has, like, deeper issues that he needs to address to make him a better man. The True I first met is soft-spoken, doesn't do all the back and forth," Shonta said.
Although she wanted to work things out with True, the Love After Lockup star realized it might not happen that way.
Previously, Shonta had barred True from accompanying her to her ultrasound test. She said she did not want him present during the test because she suspected his "full intentions." She added she did not want to take their relationship to the next level when she did not know if he would be there in the long run.
The Love After Lockup cast member noted they had to "reach that place" of security and stability before she dared to share her "special moments" with him. Meanwhile, True confessed he had to reassure Shonta of his intentions.
In another episode segment, Shonta's best friend questioned True's source of income. When she heard he worked at the casino, she became suspicious of his work, wondering if he earned his money through gambling. Despite his confidence, Shonta's friend struggled to believe him.
"He's putting this facade just so that he can use her time, he can use her money, he can use her resources. It's heartbreaking. She sees it but she ignores it just because she wants a happy ending, a happy life and I'm almost certain he's not gonna give that to her," Shonta's friend said.
Love After Lockup airs every Friday at 8 pm ET, only on We TV.
