Love Is Blind: Brazil, one of the most famous reality series on Netflix, released its fourth season on June 19. 30-year-old Andre Romano is one of the contestants of Love Is Blind: Brazil, where he confesses to other contestants about his struggles with his family, especially his father, who has never met her autistic 4-year-old girl, Fernanda. He added that it’s been five years since he last spoke or saw his father.
From the get-go, Andre seemed to form a deep connection with his fellow contestant, Marcia Ishimoto. Both the contestants opened up to each other after finding common ground in terms of their kids being autistic. Andre also opened up about his father and how it affected him in opening up emotionally:
“My father was an alcoholic and drug addict. This destroyed our relationship.”
Andre made an instant connection in Love Is Blind: Brazil
Hosted by the power couple Camila Queiroz and Klebber Toledo for the fourth consecutive time, Love is Blind: Brazil saw Andre go through a rollercoaster of emotions in a short period. When describing himself, Andre stated that he was “caring, romantic, and easy-going” and was looking for someone who would stay. By his side and is loyal.
34-year-old Marcia Ishimoto was instantly enamored by Andre, even though they couldn’t see each other physically. They both cried when they shared their similar struggles in raising an autistic child. While emotional, Andre told Marcia:
“Oh, God. We’re both gonna be crying messes then.”
After they had a healthy and open conversation, Andre was confident that Marcia would choose him.
“I know she put my name at the top, at the very top. If she didn’t, man, I’d be so sad.”
Andre lost everything in a period of four months
On a different day in Love Is Blind: Brazil, when Andre and Marcia met to have another conversation, while Marcia was enthusiastic, Andre, on the other hand, was a little gloomy. As their conversations have been organic, this has helped Andre open up and talk about his familial struggles over the years. He told Marcia that he lost almost everything in a span of four months, from materialistic possessions to the ones who were close to his heart.
“My marriage started breaking down. I lost my job, my mom, my job, my car, everything.”
Further explaining that in 2022, he found out that his mother was suffering from pancreatic cancer, during which he was going through his divorce. Seeking help from his own grandparents, Andre asked his father to move to his grandparent’s home in Campinas and get better, as he never turned up for Andre’s mother during her cancer treatment.
Even after enduring all this, he was left devastated and alone when Andre’s grandmother asked him to never contact his father again. Andre’s paternal grandparents cut all ties with Andre and his mother, as they blamed Andre’s mother for his father’s addictions.
“He never stood up for me, not even once.”
Andre became emotional when he confessed to Marcia that his father hadn’t met Andre’s daughter, Fernanda, as it’s been five years since they’ve had any sort of communication.
Marcia, hearing all this, became empathetic towards Andre and was happy at the same time that Andre felt comfortable enough with Marcia to share such intimate details.
“He’s really trusting me with this, and I think that’s just so cool.”
Andre, on the other hand, couldn’t handle such emotional vulnerability, and doubts started to emerge in the mind of the 30-year-old with a troubled past. Casting doubts about his own emotional stability, Andre confessed to Marcia that when he first entered the show, he thought he was emotionally prepared for a new relationship. But his troubled past got the better of him emotionally, and he does not intend to hurt Marcia in the process. Talking about his ex, Andre confessed:
“My last relationship was so chaotic and really just traumatic for me.”
Andre even shared his concerns with another contestant on Love Is Blind: Brazil, Gutto Lima, to which he suggested Andre not dwell in the past too much as his affection for Marcia is not related to his past. Gutto also told Andre that if he kept wondering about the past, then his tombstone would read:
“’Andre… What if?’”
Love is Blind: Brazil debuted on June 19 and is exclusively streaming on Netflix.
