Love is Blind: Brazil season 4: Ariela confronts Alexandre about "fat" comment

Love is Blind: Brazil season 4 premiered on Netflix on June 19, 2024. The social experiment launched with four episodes and will release new episodes weekly until the season finale.

The show features a cast of singles who are giving love another shot and have previously been married or in long-term relationships. One such person was Ariela Carasso who was seen interacting with a male cast member, Alexandre Thomaz while in the pods.

In episode 1, Alexandre Thomaz spoke to several cast members but upon exiting the pods on one instance, he said:

"I'm f***ed, man. I just liked one girl, but she sounded fat."

When the female cast members gathered in the lounge, Ariela told the girls she liked Alexandre but several cast members didn't think he was a good person. One cast member said she liked one person who later said that he liked someone, but she sounded fat.

When the contestant revealed it was Alexandre, Ariela noted she needed to have a conversation with him. However, when she did, the Love is Blind: Brazil season 4 star denied it and said he didn't remember saying that.

Alexandre denies his comment on Love is Blind: Brazil season 4 episode 1

When Ariela later spoke to Alexandre, she told him they needed to talk about something. The Love is Blind: Brazil season 4 star asked him whether he said anything about liking someone but them sounding fat to him. Alexandre replied:

"I never said that."

He added that he was absolutely sure about not having said that about someone. Ariela, who previously opened up about her former partner cheating on her as she underwent a body transformation told the cameras that the comment got to her since it was a "sore spot."

The Love is Blind: Brazil season 4 female cast member asked him to be honest with her and Alexandre replied that he would have told her if he said that. He added that he just didn't remember saying that.

He further told her that although he didn't remember, it would be "really messed up" on his part to make that comment. The comment was a defining moment for the two of them as Ariela explained to the cameras. She said:

"I'm not gonna judge. It's not cool to judge someone off of just one conversation with them, but Alexandre has this, like stereotypical vibe to him, you know? And everyone here has their own beauty standards, and Alexandre just has a specific type of woman that he likes. And I guess we can't see eye to on this."

Alexandra discussed the interaction with the male cast back in the lounge and said that one of the girls told Ariela he called someone fat. He added that he had so much to drink. He shared:

"I don't remember saying that. And let's say, I really did say that. Uh, we all make mistakes. But I honestly don't remember."

In a confessional, the Love is Blind: Brazil season 4 star added that he could have said something like that as a "joke." He added that it was impossible to know what someone looked like just by hearing their voice.

Earlier in the episode, Ariele opened up about her past and her weight loss journey. She said her last relationship was one of the hardest ones she had ever been in. The Love is Blind: Brazil season 4 star said she used to be overweight. She stated:

"During my last relationship, I decided I needed to make a change in my life. I decided to have bariatric and abdominoplastic surgeries, started going to the gym and he started getting insecure."

Ariela revealed that her partner cheated on her with her friend, and it was a hard time in her life.
