Love is Blind: Habibi, the social experiment's latest regional spin-off, featured singles from Dubai as they attempted to fall in love without seeing their partner. The show aired nine episodes on Thursday, October 10, 2024, and is set to air the reunion special later.
After getting to know one another better in the pods, the couples headed for a group vacation. This part of the experiment differed from the American version as the creators emphasized respecting the Middle Eastern culture and norms and had the male and the female cast members stay in separate quarters and interact during the day.
The cast returned to Dubai soon after. In the end, three couples made it to the altar, but only one got married. Khatab and Asma, and Chafic and Dounia decided not to tie the knot, while Mohommad and Safa said yes and formalized their marriage in the presence of a Sheik.
Who said "I do" in Love is Blind: Habibi finale?
The first wedding featured in Love is Blind: Habibi season 1 was Khatab and Asma's, which began towards the end of episode 8, titled Almost There. Ahead of the wedding, Khatab expressed certainty about his decision to marry Asma and wrote her a letter.
He wanted to assure her since he knew her family might not be at the wedding, and he sent the letter to her through a friend. On the wedding day, Asma said she was excited for her fiancé to see her in her dress, while Khatab said he truly believed love was blind.
As Asma walked down the aisle alone, she noticed her parents were not in attendance. However, she proceeded with the function. The hosts asked what she wanted to tell Khatab before making her decision. She expressed feeling safe with the Love is Blind: Habibi participant and said she felt "seen and heard."
Khatab said that Asma was "the most amazing human being" in his life and that he couldn't wait for their future together. However, when it was time to decide, Asma wasn't ready to get married.
"Not today. Today is only the beginning. This is not the day to make my decision. It's a no for today but a yes for another day and every day," she said in episode 9, the season finale.
Next up were Mohommad and Safa. The female cast member found the dress she wanted and felt positive about her and her fiancé's big day. At the altar, Mohommad said that when he saw her for the first time, it felt like he was seeing for the first time.
"Your laugh took my mind off my worries. Your whisper made me feel like a child," Mohommad said.
He promised to respect, cherish, and protect her for as long as he lived. Safa expressed her feelings towards Mohommad and said she had been looking for a life partner for years. She thanked him for who he was and thanked the Love is Blind: Habibi cast member's parents for "raising such a beautiful soul."
The two said "Yes" and met the Sheik to get their marriage formalized. Dounia and Chafic, the last couple whose wedding was featured on the show, got ready for their big day. Dounia said her fiancé was "classy and respectful," while Chafic said his fiancée had everything he wanted in a woman.
While getting ready, Dounia expressed feeling confused. Her sister joined her and recalled the moment she met Chafic for the first time. She told him about their similarities, and her sister asked if she was in love with the Love is Blind: Habibi star. She said yes.
Her sister urged her to be selfish and make the right decision because if anything were to go wrong, Dounia wouldn't be the only one who would get hurt. After putting on her dress, she called Chafic, and they discussed their upcoming wedding.
As they met at the altar, Dounia said no but revealed that they both spoke on the phone before the ceremony and decided not to get married just yet.
Episodes of Love is Blind: Habibi are available to stream on Netflix.
