Netflix aired Love is Blind: Mexico episode 1 on August 1, 2024. The first episode of the dating show introduced many contestants and their connected partners. Love is Blind: Mexico episode 1 started with the hosts, Lucy and Omar Chaparro, welcoming all the participants.
The first episode, The Experiment Begins, formed one couple, Fernanda and Gerardo. Apart from them, many individuals connected with fellow contestants and shared a bond. Most of them are still figuring out who could be their potential romantic partner.

Francesca Oettler, 27, Coach of Indoor Cycling, was ready to live this experiment to the fullest. Then there was Mafer Trujillo, 29, Marketing Director, hoping for a husband who was taller than her. She shared in the confessional,
"I hope my future husband is taller than me, but if he isn’t, I wanna prove to myself that looks aren’t what matters the most."
Another female contestant, Fernanda Riva Palacio, 36, an architect, shared that she was very romantic and affectionate. Among the female contestants were attorney Irais Ramirez, 30, and opera singer Alejandra Caletti, 28.
The male contestants' introductions started with Chema Rivera, 36, an entrepreneur and poker player. Luis Fer Campos, 28, an entrepreneur and Creative Director, wore a skirt and mentioned that some of his past dates have judged him because he wears a skirt.
Next was Jose Salazar, 27, an Airport Civil Engineer. He says true love doesn’t have to be physical because it is much more than that. Among the male contestants were a doctor, Rene Angeles, 34, and Fernando Hernandez, 27, an Operations Manager.
Love is Blind: Mexico - First dates
Gerardo Zapiain, 33, a musician, had his first date with Fernanda Riva Palacio, an architect. Gerardo's next date was with Ale Cardenas, 27, a Marketing Specialist.
His third date was with Sandra Arias, 39. His next date was with Mafer Trujillo. Although not everything matched, Gerardo and Mafer felt a vibe.
Jose Maria (Chema), who described himself as “a Figure 3-certified with the Mexican Stock Exchange in finance,” had a date with Alejandra Caletti, 28, an Opera Singer. Fernando Hernandez, 27, had a date with Rocio Mirafuentes, 36, a Human Development Professor.
Irais went on a date with Rene Angeles, a doctor. She told him she had always wanted to marry a doctor. Her second date was with Fernando. They talked about many things, including how he used to live in Spain, where Irais also lived for some time. They also talked about Irais’ 25-year-old disabled brother.
Day 2: Love is Blind: Mexico
Jose Maria had his second date with Silvia, during which they discussed intimacy, physical pleasure, and other topics. Another couple, Gerardo Zapiain and Fernanda Riva Palacio, also had their second date.
In the women’s lounge, Fernanda told a few of her fellow contestants that she (Fernanda Riva Palacio) likes Gerardo the most, whom another contestant, Irais Ramirez, also likes.
Fernando and Irais had their date. They talked about what qualities they have been looking for in a partner.
He shared that,
"I’m all about motivating my partners. I’m always kind and respectful of their feelings. I would love for my partner’s dream to come true and for her to share mine, too."
There was another date between Silvia and Chema Rivera, who had a daughter. After learning about his daughter, she had some doubts, which later changed, as she shared in the confessional,
"I think he has a big heart and a lot to offer. I wanna get to know who’s behind that posh little voice."
The next date was between Mafer Trujillo and Gerardo, who recognized that it was Mafer. They talked about families, and he said his family is “Super duper important to him.” She said she was also the same.
In the women’s lounge later, two of the female contestants had Gerardo as their “Number One.” It was Fernanda Riva Palacio and Mafer Trujillo.
The next date was between Gerardo Zapiain and Mafer. She sent him a blanket with a spray of her perfume so he could get to know her scent. He smelled it.
Gerardo Zapiain went on a date with Fernanda Riva Palacio, who sent him a plant that was special to her. He shared he had gone on a date with Mafer earlier. Even though he said goodbye to Mafer, he expressed having a good time with her.
Gerardo’s confusion between Mafer and Fernanda
Fernanda described the situation as “a brutal rollercoaster of emotions,” whereas Gerardo shared in the confessional that,
"I never thought I would develop such strong feelings for two people at the same time. It’s hard because we created bonds that you’d only have with a partner."
After much consideration, he continued this journey with Fernanda. But he wanted to keep their communication if Mafer wanted somebody to talk to.
He sent her chocolates, flowers, and a letter on his next date with Fernanda. He also wrote a song for her and played it on his guitar. After both of them felt quite emotional and connected, Gerardo proposed to Fernanda, and she said yes.
Fernando’s confusion between Irais and Rocio
After Fernando learns from Rocio that Irais told everyone that she would marry Fernando, he wants to confront Irais about the same. When Fernando asked Irais about that, she said,
“I did tell the girls, I’m getting married, but I didn’t say, he proposed to me. I meant it like, I’m gonna marry him because I like him; he’s who I choose. I want to keep exploring our connection."
Fernando decided he wouldn’t go on any more dates with Rocio because he hates drama and people who gossip. Later, Irais also had a private chat with Rocio about this.
Love is Blind: Mexico episode 1 ended with Fernanda and Gerardo’s first meeting. However, the episode didn’t finish the entire meeting between the two.
