The first season of Love is Blind: Mexico premiered on Netflix on Thursday, August 1, 2024. The series released four episodes which showcased singles interacting with each other in the pods. Some formed romantic connections, while others left the experiment empty-handed.
Cast members often had to make difficult decisions, choosing someone over the other. By the end of Episode 4, five couples — Fernando and Karen, Leti and Saul, Fernanda and Gerardo, Chema and Silvia, and Willy and Francesca — made it to Tulum, Mexico, where they enjoyed their honeymoon.
At the end of the episode, Love is Blind: Mexico hosts Omar and Lucy Chaparro met all the couples and told them they would now embark on their journey in the real world as engaged individuals. Over three weeks, they would meet each other's families, test their compatibility, and eventually decide if they wanted to get married.
The trailer for the upcoming episodes (5 to 8), set to be released on Thursday, August 8, teased impending drama. A couple of contestants who left the experiment single returned and sparked controversy. It also showcased couples arguing, struggling to gain family's approval, and much more.
Love is Blind: Mexico: 3 major events set to unfold
Couples struggle to adjust to each other's lifestyles
One clip showed Leti placing pillows on the bed to divide the space between her and her Love is Blind: Mexico partner, Saul.
"I feel a lot of pressure to make things work, and I don't think I can," said Leti.
The couple struggled to agree on the subject of physical intimacy. Saul expressed love through physical contact, whereas Leti did not. She felt Saul was dissatisfied because she could not fulfill his desires. It would be interesting to see how their differences affect their relationship in the upcoming episodes.
"This is the make-or-break moment of this whole thing because we just met and already, we're living together," said Silvia.
The couples faced questions after they went through each other's phones. Silvia said, "Don't look" to Chema, intending to conceal something from him.
Some cast members struggled to accept their partner's unorganized lifestyle. One clip showed, Silvia invested in household chores, while Chema relaxed.
Meeting with the families and wedding plans
Love is Blind: Mexico star Fernando brought Karen to meet his family. One of Fernando's family members requested Karen to harbor genuine feelings for him. Only then would she approve of their relationship.
"He's the love of my life, but if you love him, then I love you," said Fernando's family member.
Another segment showcased Chema's family questioning Silvia's career path. The Love is Blind: Mexico star worked as a plus-size model, but when Chema's family discovered it they were unimpressed.
"She says she's a model, but shouldn't she have a more serious profession?" asked the family member.
Willy confessed he "panicked" when he heard the finalized date for the wedding. In the next scene, Francesca shouted," You're a f**king coward!" to someone in the distance. Previously, Willy had expressed reservations regarding marriage.
Fans would have to wait and see if Francesca's wrath was aimed at Willy walking out of their relationship.
Return of the old flames
The couples cheered as Mafer joined them during a meeting. Gerardo who had a connection with her, rejected her to be with Fernanda. Therefore, he was taken aback when he saw Mafer in person.
"No way!" Gerardo exclaimed.
In another segment, Karen held up her phone to Fernando to show him that Irais was messaging her. Irais left the experiment after her connections with Fernando and Rene failed to materialize. Despite her early exit, she was seen walking down the aisle, which hinted that she rekindled her relationship with either of her connections.
As a result, Karen, Fernando's fiancee, was enraged with Irais' return. At the same time, Silvia felt nervous when she saw Alejandra hug Chema. Chema had a connection with Alejandra in the pods but eventually rejected her for Silvia.
Lastly, the couples were shown trying on wedding dresses and contemplating their decision to head to the altar
Love is Blind: Mexico will release Episodes 5-8 on Netflix on August 8, 2024.
