Love is Blind: Mexico season 1 debuted on Thursday, August 1, 2024. A regional spin-off of Netflix's Love is Blind franchise, it focuses on letting singles build deep and meaningful connections without being able to see the person they are interacting with.
Unable to see who they are having conversations with, the cast shares their personal stories, their fears, and what they want in a partner, in an attempt to forge strong connections. The only way they can see the other person is after they have decided to get married, at the end of four weeks. Whether they get married or not, depends on the rest of their time together.
In episodes 1 and 2, Chema found himself torn between two women, Silvia and Alejandra. He eventually proposed to Silvia after realizing he shared a stronger bond with her.
The Love is Blind: Mexico couple got engaged and continued to explore their relationship during their honeymoon in episode 4. They discussed their future together and shared their excitement about meeting each other's family and children.
Silvia expressed concern about meeting Chema's friends, but the latter reassured her of his support. While they were invested in each other, the other couples from the Love is Blind: Mexico pods thought Silvia and Chema would not last. They feared their relationship was superficial.
Silvia learns about Chema's past from Love is Blind: Mexico star Francesca
Silvia and Chema felt satisfied having spent their first day together outside the pods. They utilized the opportunity to test their compatibility and their physical chemistry. Silvia said she "never laughed so hard," admitting she had a great time with Chema.
"The night was fun. It was a short night since the party broke up so late, but it was restorative," said Silvia.
Chema used certain "tricks" to impress his Love is Blind: Mexico co-star, which left Silvia feeling happy. The next morning, when the five couples met, Silvia discovered that Chema and Francesca knew each other from before. However, she was relieved to learn that their relationship was not romantic.
"I've known Chemita for about five years. He is or was best friends with a really wonderful man I dated," stated Francesca.
Silvia requested a one-on-one conversation with Francesca, wanting to know what she thought of Chema as his friend. Francesca revealed he worked on himself and "got his sh*t together" the moment he realized he was going to be a father.
She added that she admired his personality and commended him for taking up a responsible role when required. However, Silvia seemed to be taken aback when Francesca told her that he "really gave it all with his ex."
"I know he wasn't the one to end that relationship. He would have kept trying and trying," Francesca said.
Despite the confession, Francesca reassured Silvia of Chema's feelings for her. While speaking to the cameras, Chema seemed to have faith in their relationship "without having to give up" their independence.
"I think Silvia and I can keep what we have together, without having to give up our independence and still maintain the love and respect we both have for each other."
Meanwhile, Gerardo thought Chema and Silvia lacked compatibility and "didn't quite match." Fernando echoed his assumption and stated that although they shared similar personalities, Silvia did not seem like Chema's match based on appearance.
In another segment, the couple discussed meeting each other's families. Chema promised to be a role model for Silvia, whereas Silvia mentioned she would do anything to be supportive of his daughter.
"I want to make your daughter even happier than I'm sure she already is," said Silvia.
Chema hoped Silvia, his daughter, and his daughter's mother would get along, and together they could "make a really cool Modern Family." Although Silvia doubted Chema's role as a father, she felt at ease when the Love is Blind: Mexico cast member opened up about his feelings and made her feel like "a part of this big family."
Later in the episode, Silvia told Chema that she feared meeting his friends, whom he claimed were "hard to impress." It was her "greatest fear," despite having confidence in herself.
"I'm afraid that maybe I'm not going to be accepted," confessed Silvia.
Chema said his friends would accept her if they thought their relationship was genuine. He reassured her and stated that he admired her. The Love is Blind: Mexico star looked forward to starting a future together.
Love is Blind: Mexico will release episodes 5-8 on Netflix on August 8, 2024.
