Love is Blind: Mexico premiered on Netflix on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Eligible singles participated in a unique experiment to find love. They developed connections without seeing who they talked to. By the end of the second episode, three couples had gotten engaged.
In episode 3, three more pairs — Chema and Silvia, Francesca and Willy, and Rene and Irais — upgraded their relationship by getting engaged. While the first two couples looked forward to enjoying their honeymoon in Tulum, Mexico, Irais broke up with Rene soon after their engagement because she was unimpressed by his appearance.
The final five couples headed into the next phase of the experiment to enjoy their time together as engaged individuals. They would live together and meet each other's family members before deciding whether to get married.
Love is Blind: Mexico: Three couples consolidated their relationships by getting engaged
1) Chema and Silvia
Chema and Silvia developed a deep and meaningful connection in episode 2. At that time, Chema was also pursuing co-star Alejandra. They immediately clicked with one another, but when Alejandra expressed her desire to get a Master's degree from Italy, Chema became apprehensive about their connection.
He wished not to engage in a long-distance relationship because he had an unpleasant experience doing the same. As a result, he broke up with Alejandra and decided to steer his attention to Silvia.
"Truthfully, after everything that's happened, I decided that I felt a stronger connection in the other pod," said Chema.
Chema felt drawn to Silvia and knew she could support his daughter, Antonella. Therefore, he confessed his feelings to her, hoping she agreed to build a future with him. He wrote her a letter professing his love to her, which Silvia gladly accepted.
He vowed to protect, love, and care for her for their "whole life together." Silvia got emotional reading the message. While speaking to the cameras, the Love is Blind: Mexico cast member confessed he had not imagined he could find "a connection that strong."
Chema felt anxious meeting Silvia since he was particular about a woman's physical appearance, while Silvia feared that Chema might reject her for her height. However, they were impressed to see each other and soon got engaged.
"I was over the moon, and I think we were both feeling the exact same thing. It was really surreal. Honestly, I'm super-duper happy," said Chema.
2) Francesca and Willy
Francesca formed a special bond with Willy in episode 3. The main quality she looked for in her partner was the ability to establish a family with her. She wanted her husband to care for her and her 11-year-old daughter, Mila.
When Willy asked her if she wanted more children, she said yes. However, she mentioned she would agree to it only if her husband promised to love her daughter impartially. The Love is Blind: Mexico star confessed Mila would become his family if he were to marry Francesca.
Francesca was pleasantly surprised by his kindness and complimented him for being so calm. She realized her feelings for him and told him she would leave the experiment if their connection could not materialize. Willy accepted her affection and agreed to be her boyfriend.
Soon, Willy proposed to Francesca promising to be a role model for her daughter. The Love is Blind: Mexico couple embraced each other when they met for the first time.
Willy went down on one knee and proposed to Francesca. She happily accepted the ring and then kissed him. They shared their excitement heading into the next phase of the experiment as an engaged couple.
3) Rene and Irais
Irais' journey on Love is Blind: Mexico started with Fernando. She felt ecstatic with the connection she developed with him. After returning to the women's lounge, she announced she was getting married, creating a misunderstanding among the cast members.
However, Fernando soon lost interest in Irais once he met Love is Blind: Mexico co-star Karen, and got engaged to her in episode 2.
Irais then steered her attention to Rene in episode 3. However, she hesitated to pursue him because of his drinking habit. She feared he might become violent or abusive, but Rene reassured her he would never "take advantage" of her.
Their connection progressed, and soon Rene proposed to Irais. She said yes and looked forward to meeting him. However, during their first encounter, Irais was unimpressed by his appearance.
"He looks like a bit of a bad boy," said Irais.
She was unhappy to see his piercings, and felt she was "hugging a stranger." She nonetheless got engaged to him, but after much contemplation, she decided to sever ties with him. Both Rene and Irais left the experiment without a match.
Love is Blind: Mexico episodes 5-8 are set to be released on Netflix on August 8, 2024.
