From Jasmine's "leap of faith" to Catherine's fear of rejection: 5 takeaways from Love is Blind UK finale
1) Ollie’s positive take on the situation despite Demi’s refusal
During Demi and Ollie's wedding ceremony in Love is Blind UK episode 11, the officiant asked Demi if she wanted to get married. Demi looked at Ollie and told him that while she loved him, she didn't want to get married, shocking everyone.
When Ollie asked her why, Demi explained that they were not "quite there," and added that she wasn't walking away from him forever but she was walking away "for now."
"I do not. I’m gonna walk away from you forever," but it was an "I do not for now," she said.
Despite Demi’s decision not to get married, Ollie had a more positive approach to the situation. After Demi left the ceremony, he told everyone they were celebrating their love and friendship and that their journey hadn’t changed, "just a slight diversion."
Later, Ollie confessed that it was not a race and that they would get there at their own pace. Ollie told his friend Aaron that the chapter was closed, but the story was not over.
2) Jasmine considered her mother’s advice but took a "leap of faith"
The finale featured Jasmine and Bobby’s wedding as well. While she was getting ready, some friends joined her, and Jasmine told them about a conversation she had with her mother the day before, which "threw a spanner" in the works.
Jasmine shared that her mother "kind of planted" seeds of doubt and hurt her, adding that she couldn’t stop crying and was overwhelmed. She also shared that her mother had concerns about Bobby’s job and if he could provide for the family.
"She thinks that he can’t provide for his family. And she’s my mom. So, of course, I’m gonna take what she says into consideration," confessed Jasmine.
However, Jasmine said that ultimately, it was her decision, and she decided to say "I do" and marry Bobby in the Love is Blind UK finale.
3) Catherine’s "biggest fear" of rejection came true
Catherine and Freddie’s wedding was also featured in the eleventh episode of Love is Blind UK. While she said, "I do," Freddie couldn’t move forward, and said no at the altar.
"I love you, Cat. But the timing might not be right for us," Freddie said.
He left Catherine crying at the altar and was also sobbing outside the wedding hall. Catherine described feeling numb and embarrassed after the ceremony. She also noted that she felt "really unwanted" after Freddie refused to get married.
Catherine’s parents and friends discussed how the situation was her "biggest fear." They were all quite emotional. Fans were aware that Catherine was adopted, and because of that, she often felt abandoned by her birth mother.
4) Tom’s concerns about his potential future children and their mindset
Love is Blind UK episode 10 saw Maria and Tom’s wedding, and when the officiant asked Tom what his decision was, he said that he felt like it wasn't "the right time" for him.
"I love you. I just feel like right now is not the right time for me. We’ve had some differences in values, and I haven’t had enough time to really understand how those differences will affect our life day-to-day," the contestant said.
He told Maria she looked beautiful and then left the ceremony, leaving a shocked Maria feeling "incredibly sad."
Tom later confessed that saying no to Maria was "far harder" than he had envisaged. However, he noted that if Maria and he had a son, she would teach him to pay for most things because he was a boy.
"If I had a little girl, then, you know, I wouldn’t want that girl to expect the guy to pay for everything," Tom continued.
Tom added that he wanted to raise his girl as a strong, independent woman who contributed to herself. He also shared that they didn’t have enough time to address all "those" things.
5. Happily Married couples on Love is Blind UK
Although the three couples didn’t end up married on the show, the finale also witnessed three couples who had the wedding of their dreams.
The first couple to get married in Love is Blind UK finale was Sabrina and Steven, who clicked since their first blind date on the show. The second couple to get married was Bobby and Jasmine.
Lastly, despite a few bumps, Nicole and Benaiah became the third couple on the show, married after their long engagement. Benaiah confessed that he had been single for ten years and that after meeting Nicole, he wondered how he had "operated in life without that."
"How I am around Nicole, how our relationship is together, and how we work as a team, I sometimes think, 'How have I operated in life without that?'," he said
The newly married couple shared that it felt “right” and full of love and happiness.
