What happened in the finale of Love Island USA season 6?
The episode started with the final four couples discussing their journey on the show, thrilled to make it to the last leg of the competition. The following morning, the islanders received a text that said that each couple would go on their final dates.
First up were Kendall and Nicole, who went on a parasailing date. After their adventure on the water, they enjoyed some one-on-one time on a private island. Nicole called him a "great guy," whereas Kendall praised her for making him feel "loved." He proceeded to profess his love to her, which surprised Nicole.
She returned to the villa and felt bad about not saying 'I love you' back to Kendall. Kendall struggled to hold back his tears but mentioned he would wait for her response no matter how long it took.
Meanwhile, JaNa, Leah, and Serena discussed their friendship on the show, thanking each other for everything. Leah and Miguel's date was up next. Leah admitted she felt "butterflies" in her stomach. The couple rode to a hilltop on their ATV bike, where a romantic date was arranged.
They talked about the future of their relationship outside the villa.
"I met a beautiful woman. Definitely ready to go step out, face the challenges outside. See what's in store for us," said Miguel.
Kordell and Serena were sent to a drive-in movie date, where they were shown glimpses of their journey in the Love Island USA villa. The couple got emotional, revisiting the memories they made together.
They were grateful for the date since it aptly summarized their relationship. Kordell and Serena reassured each other that they would try to make their relationship work outside the villa.
Lastly, it was Kenny and JaNa's turn. Their date included a meal under a tree carrying words of affirmation from both their families. The duo got emotional reading the encouraging messages from their loved ones.
Later, during their date, JaNa and Kenny read letters written by each other's mothers. Both mothers wrote how much they rooted for them and looked forward to meeting them in person.
"I'm just really happy that she's happy for us, like, it means more than I can imagine," said JaNa.
The Love Island USA cast members enjoyed cooking their meals for the last time in the villa. While the ladies stepped out to enjoy a spa day and write their speeches for the 'Declarations of Love,' the men remained in the villa, working on theirs.
As the sun set, it was finally time for the couples to make their speeches. Each recalled the moment they met and eventually got emotional, revisiting their adventurous journey on the show. Kordell admitted he made a mistake by returning from Casa Amor with Daia. Meanwhile, Serena thanked him for giving her the "best summer ever."
Kenny thanked JaNa for making him a "better man." His Love Island USA partner, however, surprised him by making her speech in Spanish.
"Bilingual queen," said Serena.
Miguel praised Leah for showing her true self to him and allowing him to be by her side through everything. He confessed there were not enough words to describe how "great of a person" she was. On the other hand, Leah thanked him for supporting her through her hardships.
Lastly, Kendall stood at the podium and said 'I love you' to Nicole. He added he would give her all the time she needed to work on her feelings. However, when it was Nicole's turn to speak, she said:
"I'm going to keep you and hold onto you for as long as you let me. I'm in love with you Kendall."
