Love Island USA season 6 began airing in June 2024 and features singles from various walks of life who are looking to find love and make lasting connections. The singles in this season are in a tropical villa in Fiji, mingling with others and striving to make progress in their relationships. However, there is a twist as new singles, aka "bombshells," are introduced at regular intervals to stir relationship dynamics.
Voting lines are then opened to the general public, who vote for the couples, ranking them based on their compatibility. Based on the voting results and the recoupling choices, single cast members are eliminated from the show.
The safe islanders get another opportunity to explore and utilize different corners of the villa. So far, viewers have seen several sections of the house, like the dressing room, the fire pit, the swimming pools, and the lounge. It also features a secluded, cozy space for couples called the Soul Ties, where they can have private conversations.
However, the infamous Hideaway is yet to be showcased. ITV Entertainment executive producer Simon Thomas confirmed to People in an exclusive interview published on July 3, 2024, that they had a Hideaway. He added that it would be featured soon enough, stating that they hadn't showcased it yet because the Love Island USA cast members were already going through a lot.
Love Island USA season 6 will feature the Hideaway soon
Each season of Love Island USA has its own Hideaway, a significant section of the villa, and a crucial part of the show where much of the drama unfolds. It is a secluded area, set apart from the villa, which allows the islanders to enjoy each other's company without being seen by the other cast members. They can have complete privacy and reflect on their relationship.
Love Island UK season 11, which is currently airing on ITV, has had its Hideaway open since day one. However, they have only permitted non-couples to enter the area, adding more drama to the show. The Hideaway can be equated to The Bachelor's Fantasy Suite, which is another private room for couples to enjoy.
While speaking to People, ITV's executive producer, Simon Thomas, revealed the reason they had held off on sending Love Island USA couples to the Hideaway.
He said that it was because there "has not been the right opportunity to use it." Simon noted that since there was a lot that was already unfolding, introducing the Hideaway would be overwhelming for both the cast and the viewers.
He told the publication that they usually "save the Hideaway for when couples are really clicking." He added that owing to all the drama of the couple-swapping, the "timing has never felt right."
"We usually save the Hideaway for when couples are really clicking, but since it's been such a rollercoaster for the islanders so far, with a lot of couple-swapping and all the drama that comes with that, the timing has never felt right," Simon said.
The only couples who have stayed together since day one are Aaron and Kaylor and Kordell and Serena. However, with the advent of Casa Amor, even these relationships have appeared fragile. With frequent recouplings and seven eliminations, producers have struggled to locate the perfect time to introduce the Hideaway.
However, he did add that they will be sending some of the islanders to the Hideaway soon. He then went on to praise the show's production designer, Richard Jensen, calling him "a phenomenal" designer, who didn't build the Hideaway for nothing.
Simon reassured Love Island USA fans that they would soon send some contestants to the Hideaway. Once the Hideaway is open, viewers can expect to see more drama unfold.
People also shared exclusive details of the suite, which has a plush king-sized bed and decorations custom-made to fit the Love Island USA villa and its vibe. The bedroom features neon lights that will enhance the quality of the romantic getaway for the couples who get to explore it. It also has a neon sign that reads "Play Time."
Outside the bedroom is a private jacuzzi alongside a small fire pit where couples can indulge in deepening their relationships. Couples with solid connections will proceed to the Hideaway. Viewers are interested in seeing what changes Casa Amor brings to the existing relationships.
Love Island USA season 6 airs six days a week (except Wednesday) at 9 pm ET exclusively on Peacock.
